What should we check out? If anyone has any tips, it would be radical if you could help us out!! Thanks in advance!

sgoodcore
Go to a Giants game! Great park and I'm a Dodger fan so you know I want to hate it.
goraiders
definitely go to a giants game! theres a free viewing section behind outfield so you don't have to pay and can only stay for however long you want. Its within walking distance of a lot of cool stuff including downtown. i dont really know specifically where to stay, but its crazy how much everything you'd probably want to see is within walking distance. At least downtown, union square, chinatown, north beach... etc. also im not sure if this applies to you, but for me the nicest thing is just getting drunk and wandering around and letting things happen. roadmonkey
http://www.yelp.com/search?find_loc=Union+Square%2C+San+Francisco%2C+CA&cflt=hotels Hotels in Union Square Also, the Muni Bus system is really nice. If you have google maps on your phone/computer, there is a transit viewing option that will show you stops and what buses to take from here to there. emiri
you can check out "the rainbow". or where it used to be. didn't they paint over it? "We hung out at the rainbow where we drank til' half past two. Nothing could go wrong anytime that I'm with you. Like crashing a hotel room or leading up to that first kiss Or searching for a high school that you know doesn't exist..." that's what i always thought the rainbow meant, anyway. and the calamari, scallop salad at cha cha cha's.....oh yeah! i love san francisco so much. you should drive up the coast for real though if you want to have a little more sun and go tide pooling and eat awesome sandwiches in sand tunes. nostalgic much. dante3000
Here's my take as a local who's avoided most of the rad stuff because I'm local and I can hit that up anytime. Love AT&T park and the Giants. Expensive food/drinks but a great park and tons of fun. Plus it's super super easy to sneak in booze. Cha Cha Cha's is amazing. Great food, great price and really inexpensive to get drunk there. Exploritorium is a ton of fun and let's you do all that goofy kid shit you enjoy. If the spinning thing is still there you might even hork. Fisherman's Warf/Pier 39 is a double edged sword. They have some really entertaining street performers and some good seafood but it's always crammed with people and impossible to move around. If you're going I'd recommend stopping somewhere up the Embarcadero and walking in. Parking is a nightmare, also Bart takes you not too far from there. Union Square is similar, some good stuff lots of people/tourists The winchester Mystery House is whack. I mean, if you're in San Jose, go for it but I wouldn't do the 50 mile drive from San Francisco to go. It's not really impressive. It's a large house that a crazy woman wanted to build. A few odd bits but not a real stunner. Do hit 1-2-3-4-go! in Oakland, great store and if Stevo is working, he's always been great to talk to. Also, ride a fucking cable car. It's hokey and you'll likely be in there with 1,000 other people but it's fun to do once. See if you can catch a play at one of the Market Theaters. The theaters themselves are really amazing. Also (along those lines) Beach Blanket Babylon and teatro zinzanni are both really fun. So...That's my bullshit
smailtronic
I was there a few weeks ago and I stayed at a place called The Mosser. Very small rooms and shared baths, but I got it for $55 a night via Orbitz and it's right in the middle of the city - half a block from the Powell St Bart/Muni station. Don't do it if you're claustrophobic, but it was a great base for exploring the city. Golden Gate Park/Cal Academy/DeYoung are all right off the Judah line at 9th. You can also take BART right to both the Giants and A's stadiums. I'd pick the Giants, though. It's a great place to watch a game. It's fun to wander around the Presidio/Golden Gate Bridge area as well.

burdenx
Lucasfilm/ILM - Sorry I had to plug my work.. but seriously If anyone wants a tour of the place/have lunch here, let me know. I can have visitors as long as I have a couple days notice. If you come on Fridays there is a Friends and Family showing of various trailers and behind the scene stuff that you can see in the theater here. We also have a company store too. I may have to take you up on this. My brother-in-law used to work at Skywalker Ranch. About 14 years ago I went for a "take your son to work day". Well he doesn't have a son so he took me. I saw the main house, the guest houses, the stables, even got a personal tour of the archives. They pulled out Boba Fett's armor just for me. The coolest thing though was the gigantic model of the half-completed Death Star 2. Fucking amazing.
