Guest
Melvins cover of Goin' Blind is rad. It really brings out the creepiness of the song.

mattstrike
I have too many to list - simply because I love cover songs. A few that stick out in my mind: Johnny Cash: Hurt (NIN) (and the video, I get choked up every time) Beastie Boys: Stop (The Jam) Elvis Costello: Brilliant Disguise (Bruce Springsteen)
circlingvultures
i feel like i might catch hell from.....3 of you, but i like the cover cradle of filth does of hallowed be thy name. I am about to put on for the first time the Mastodon Lp where they cover Thin Lizzy, Melvins and Metallica. I also agree with the above mentioned Melvins cover of Goin' Blind and dont forget they also covered the MC5 on that record too. Rocket Reducer #62 is at the end of my LP
konk
The Menzingers are playing a kick ass cover of The Clash's Straight to Hell live. So good. But as for all time? Snuff covering Wannabe. Maybe. I've been enjoying The Menzingers cover. Wish I would have seen it live this past weekend. Andrew Jackson Jihad "Two Headed Boy" (Neutral Milk Hotel) Being from Louisiana, I feel like I should love NMH, but I don't. Now I like the original, but that's about it from Aeroplane. To contribute: Vanilla Fudge - Ticket to Ride (The Beatles) not a joke. the wire tapes vol. 1 has some really good covers that dashboard has done, 'a year in the past, forever in the future' (grade) is really good too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wire_Tapes_Vol._1
jhulud
Johnny Cash: Hurt (NIN) (and the video, I get choked up every time) The video is pretty intense. Reznor has never been keen on other bands or musicians covering his songs. Rick Rubin asked him if it was ok for Cash to do it and Reznor was indifferent about it. Reznor said in an interview that after watching the video, he was blown away and felt that Cash brought a new life to the song.

I heard in a Greg Kot/Sound Opinions radio show NIN show review a few years back that before they played Hurt in Chicago, Reznor stated to the crowd, "this song doesn't belong to me anymore, it belongs to Johnny Cash" which is a pretty classy way of stating it IMO. bruins4ever
I love the cover of "The Outdoor Type" by Frank Turner. Original by The Lemonheads? That's the one. I love The Lemonheads... even though the lead singer is/was a bit of a fuck.
casey
They/he ('cuz it's pretty much the Dando Show at this point) have a covers album coming out soon. It's decent, like their mellower early stuff, except not as dynamic.
