new jobs are fun! (until they're not)

Recommended Posts

The job I'm working now at a coffee shop. When I started I got out of this horrible awful job. Before that I was working at this shady ass corner store where I was getting treated horribly.

Getting out of that environment, and drinking all the coffee I wanted was amazing. I still love that, but I am now incredibly unhappy with my job. A lot of it had to do with the shake up of management and the people who run the franchise now.

i enjoy my job alot. i work for my dad in a science lab as a lab assistant. the other dudes i work were are all cool, somedays we have absolutely nothing to do...other days we just bottle and make some chemicals. my dads the boss and is so easy going and nice to everyone there. good pay too.

the only thing is waking up at 545 and getting home at 6 kinda sucks, especially when all my friends dont have full time jobs as i do and therefore are out drinking every night.

Not so much a 'best new job' - but the most interesting job I had was being a law clerk for a Family/Divorce law firm in NY. I worked there during the summer and winter breaks in college and besides getting to know the 'interesting' clientele, I often got to serve process of divorce papers on (usually) unsuspecting husbands are wives. This lead to many awkward and occasionally dangerous incidents - in one case, a guy who owned a towing company chased me off his lot while screaming at me. Good times.

I'm working at my "first" job still, but have enjoyed it enough to stick with it for (now) over 2.5 years.

I work on the receiving dock at a department store. It's a lot of fun, and extremely laid back. No dresscode, and extremely flexible hours (one week notice, and my manager will let me take any day off I need). It's 8 hour shifts, unloading trucks, preparing merchandise, listening to music, and talking. Plus I don't deal with customers. No complaints from me :P (I'll say that if I didn't have my current manager, the job would suck a lot more. It has a lot to do with his personality and work mentality.)

Of course, I'm quitting the job July 30th, for school. But I loved it while it lasted!
