xgrantx
What has everyone got or had good luck with. I've read a bunch of reviews, but they all are spotty. I've looked at a Lacie and western digital.
scotterson
You're going to read bad reviews for just about every brand. I have a Lacie portable and a WD desktop, and both work fine, but I have heard horror stories about both brands. Probably the brand the has the most solid reviews that I've found is G-Tech, but they're pretty pricey.
smailtronic
I have a bunch of the Maxtor One Touch 4 Plus terabyte drives at work. They've always treated me well.
Guest
After working at a computer store from 2003-05, I've found that Maxtor drives were the most troublesome. Western Digital is my personal preference due to the quality and warranty.
devinr
Western Digital hands down.
Guest eriathomas
I use Western Digital drives as well. I'm sure you can find horror stories about any drive brand anyway. Any data that you don't have 2 copies of, is obviously not important to you.
Just Another Tom
I use Western Digital too and they have always been good for me. Saying that essentially i have 4 backups of all my important stuff so even if one did fail it wouldn't really matter.
cactusbot
Seagate or nothing.
kidamnesiac
Seagate makes a 500gb hardrive that's slightly larger than an iPod, fast as the dickens and uses no power outside its USB cable. Super awesome. They also make really great desktop models.
