fourfourtwo
I noticed we had a Premier League Discussion, why not a World Cup discussion? Today was the draw for the 32 teams, and here are the groups: Group A: South Africa, Mexico, Uruguay, France Group B: Argentina, South Korea, Nigeria, Greece Group C: England, USA, Algeria, Slovenia Group D: Germany, Australia, Ghana, Serbia Group E: Netherlands, Japan, Cameroon, Denmark Group F: Italy, New Zealand, Paraguay, Slovakia Group G: Brazil, North Korea, Ivory Cost, Portugal Group H: Spain, Honduras, Chile, Switzerland As a Portugal fan (almost all of my family lives there) all I've been thinking of today is how goddamn fucked we are in our group. Matches I'm especially excited to see: Brazil/Portugal, USA/England, France/Mexico. Any thoughts?

Guest kissthesharks
Is Brazil as good as they used to be? I haven't watched soccer in 4+ years.
fourfourtwo
I wish I could afford a trip to South Africa to see some of this.
antoine
yeah, Brazil are as good as they were... For Portugal, don't worry... If Côte d'Ivoire make it to the 8th, it will be a big suprise (IMHO) We should do a World Cup pool and bet a record, like the NHL playoff pool last year
xlovecolouredx
brazil versus portugal authentic latin versus european latin....

(Côte d'Ivoire) I'd be all in for a pool. brazil versus portugalauthentic latin versus european latin.... I think this will be a crazzzy game. Mods, is there anyway to sticky this up under or above the premier league thread?

heavyheavylowlow
I'm suprised how easy Group C is. Looks like we're getting knocked out in the semi's by Argentina
partysmasher
Is Brazil as good as they used to be? I haven't watched soccer in 4+ years. No they're not, they're still really good though but not playing as much "sexy football". Easily good enough to win it still, just not walk it. partysmasher
I'm suprised how easy Group C is. Looks like we're getting knocked out in the semi's by Argentina Argentina are balls too, the qualified in the last available place for south america so we have a way bigger chance of beating them this time. heavyheavylowlow
I suppose, just from what I've seen we're only good when it's not important, the whole team chokes under the tiniest bit of pressure
jinxremoving
Group A looks like its going to be a free for all for 1st and 2nd spot
antoine
Group A looks like its going to be a free for all for 1st and 2nd spot Yeah, I don't understand why every french newspaper and analyst says that France had a lucky group. I'm really not sure they're gonna make it to the 8th.
fourfourtwo
I think it'll be South Africa (solely on home advantage) and Mexico to advance. France won't be as lucky as they were against Ireland. Fucking cheaters! I still hate them for robbing Portugal's chance to go to the finals in 06. Duff
If the U.S. doesn't advance out of the group stage there shouldn't be a national soccer program in this country anymore more. and Italy has a joke of a group. i'm still amazed New Zealand qualified when their region isn't even guaranteed an actual spot, 0.5 of a spot. New Zealand also has more sheep than people.
dcstrange87
I'm really happy with USA's draw, we can set the tone early against England. For a bit I was preparing for a group of death situation. I was having visions of an England, USA, Ivory Coast and Portugal. That being said I cant wait to watch Brazil vs. Portugal and see how the Ivory Coast stacks up against those two teams as well...Poor Korea though.
