I dont think that they can replace someone that was this talented and Im not sure if I want them to try to or not. The way he would wave his hands in the air, and all the stuff Scott already said. Any of their tracks that are a little bit weak became totally awesome live because of him. thestigmachine Posted January 22, 2010 Share Posted January 22, 2010 For someone who started losing interest in The Hold Steady just as I discovered the genius of Franz Nicolay's solo stuff, I can't really claim that I'm too bummed out. In fact, if this means he will focus more on his solo career, then I'm actually pretty excited! But yeah, I understand that Hold Steady fans are saddened by this news. Oh, and Andy, I just received both copies of his 10" not too long ago. I can see how on all parts this record was made with love and care. Everything about it is fantastic!
