The only hurricane I've "experienced" was when I was like 7 or something, we went to the Outer Banks in NC and some mega hurricane hit the day we left. All week long it was AWESOME because the waves were way over my head. I had so much fun. But I left before it really hit so I've never been in a hurricane.

My aunt/uncle have a couple boats - one is a 30-something foot sailboat they keep in Salem Harbor, MA. It's fairly old now, and it constantly has problems so they half joke about getting rid of it all the time. The last time a hurricane made it up there, it broke the mooring line and the boat floated around and gently rested on some smooth rocks. My aunt was like, "DAMMIT! Why couldn't it just sink so we could get some insurance money?!"

Sadly, it's not in the water this year so they don't have a shot this time around.

I experienced a couple of hurricanes when i lived in Florida. It was really interesting. I didn't evacuate for Katrina or Rita. I received five days paid off of work during Rita which was cool but I couldn't do anything. I drank a lot of whiskey that was about it. Rita messed my car up pretty bad though which was not cool.
