Japes
BILL HICKS! Greatest stand-up comedian ever. Recently watched the documentary American, and it was pretty awesome as well. Relentless is probably his best special, but they're all pretty great. Dude died way too soon. Also, George Carlin.
lokithelion
+ many of the aboveand... kyle kinane marc maron, stand up is great and manic, but his WTF podcast is amazing. cameron esposito maria bamford seconding the henry rollins spoken word stuff. bill hicks, if you've never listened to him, will probably(still) change your life, despite the fact that he's been dead for 17 years. Add Tommy Johnagin, Louis Katz, and Amy Schumer to that list. Also if you like Carlin's political comedy check out Lee Camp. His last record Chaos for the Weary is brutally funny, but wouldn't recommend it for anyone with right wing sensibilities.

Guest markovianprocess
I got the chance to go to the Edinburgh Fringe this year and saw a load of great comedians including: Todd Barry Hannibal Buress http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnCfeF13XLU&hl=en&fs=1 ...and a few UK-based comedians you might not have heard of, but are all great. Tim Key Isy Suttie Dave Gorman David O'Doherty
