moonbeams
Mike, makes a great sounding records. The two best sounding Weasel albums to date. My favorite part is the echoey vocals. Didn't hear them in the samples, but here's hoping.
mike
Well, that vocal treatment was all in Justin Perkins' mixing. This was mixed by Stephen Egerton.
hickey
Apparently there was an orange version of this for the Chicago show over the weekend, which is different from the red version.
shenanigans
Apparently there was an orange version of this for the Chicago show over the weekend, which is different from the red version. of course there was. Just like the last LP Ben will probably have a different version for every show he plays so he can make every dollar possible off of it
hickey
Why not? If people buy them, more power to him.
burntwolf
Weasapologist! haha i doubt he's really making tons of $ off the records, esp. compared to what he's pulling in for each show.
hickey
Good point. And just because a record has a couple of variants, it's not necessarily a cash grab. I mean, looking at your list, shenanigans, the Bouncing Souls have tons of variants for different records. Is that only for the money? But it's one thing to have tour version and it's another to have a version for every show you play. Also, the Souls are still playing with almost the original band - not just the singer and bunch of backup dudes.
hickey
I wasn't arguing, I was asking. Not everything around here has to be a fight. I was opening a dialogue. I guess the questions are: Why is it considered a cash-grab for one band to do it, and not another? Why does it matter who is in the band? A band with all original members can have variants, but one with only the original singer cannot? It just seems like strange logic.

hickey
I think the last Screeching Weasel record (First World Manifesto) had a total of six variants, which is way too many in my book, but I bought them all anyway. The Bouncing Souls/Hot Water Music split 7" has nine variants by my count. Why is one a cash-grab and one isn't?
burntwolf
yea, i'm not seeing how the members of the band have anything to do w/ the variants. i suppose all the variants on FWM could also have something to do w/ Fat trying to recoup a 30k advance as much as anything.
