BuzzersonKillwell
Headed North of the Border to MTL on Saturday. Looking for opinions on the best shop, specifically for punk / metal / rock from this decade or the last. Mostly buying current vinyl these days so great selections from the 60s / 70s / 80s aren't high on my list. Vegan restaurant recommendations ares cool too! Thanks guys. brosgetstoked
Record Stores: Sound central: http://soundcentralstore.com/v4_en/index.php Cheap thrills: http://cheapthrills.ca/index.html Aux 33 tours: http://www.aux33tours.com/ There are lots of others though that I haven't been to so you might want to check this list: http://www.nightlife.ca/liste/top-10-best-record-stores-montreal For vegan restaurants I know of three but have only been to two of them. The main one is Aux Vivres http://www.auxvivres.com/en/home/ but I don't really like their food that much. The one I prefer is http://thegreenpanther.com/menu.html which has two locations and the food is cheaper. This one is even more fancier and I've never been there because the prices were too high for my tastes. http://www.crudessence.com/ If you were coming on a weekday I'd tell you to hit up People's Potato at Concordia University or Midnight Kitchen at McGill University where they serve a by-donation vegan lunch everyday of the week and the food is amazing! adammuzzy
I don't remember the name but there was a real cool one that I got a minor threat sweatshirt at when I was in 6th grade. I love that city.
Boojie Horsie
not as good as the 33tours but for 60s 70s and some more recent stuff you should look for http://beatnickmusic.com/ its near the Nil Bleu too
BuzzersonKillwell
Cool. I'll check it next time. We didn't get a chance to get Ethiopian, so that will be next month or so for sure. Thanks for the heads up. We went to Aux Vivres, wife always wanted to go, but I thought whoever said it was only o.k. and a bit overpriced was spot on. I hit all the shops. Aux33 was pretty good size and I grabbed some shit for sure. I THINK I saw a Lagwagon boxset there, so if people on here are still looking for it maybe someone on here can grab it. Was $139. niblips
I'll be in Montreal next weekend for the Grand Prix and hope to have some free time to check out the stores mentioned above. Anyone else have any other stores i should check out to add to this list?
BuzzersonKillwell
The first reply to my original post are the three shops worth hitting up that I've come across. If you are coming up I-89 they've been running multiple hour waits at the main crossing every time I've been over this spring. niblips

I'm glad i'm not coming up from the US then, although i will have to drive through Toronto traffic during rush hour, and that's no picnic. Did you check out Beatnick? It's quite close to where i'll be staying so i know i'll be able to hit it up for sure. Edited June 3, 2016 by niblips
BuzzersonKillwell
Last time I went, about a month ago, we stayed right next to it on St. Denis. I poked around for a minute but didn't give it much of a shake, it seemed fine and I would go again. L'Oblique and Atom Heart are also within walking distance. Frankly, lots of stuff is in walking distance if you don't mind a stroll, you are in a great location. Feel free if you want to PM me and ask about anything else. Shops, food, beer whatever. Have fun. niblips
