My pro-ject debut iii has developed a "flutter"

Not really sure what the deal is. I just bought the acrylic platter on RSD and after getting it installed, I noticed that a flutter started happening on all my records. I promptly reverted to the stock platter and the flutter was still there... 

 

I went through the tonearm setup 3 times, making sure that everything was perfectly aligned with the counterweight. I have no idea what else to check, so I took a video and decided to ask all of you guys. Anybody else ever had a problem like this? Unfortunately you can't hear the flutter as well on the video, but as soon as the song starts playing it's quite noticeable. The entire player shakes when this happens.

Shakes / vibrates. It's led me to believe that either the motor or the needle is doing something it shouldn't be. I've had the player for a year, so the needle should be fine (should be). 

 

However, it should be noted that the shaking / vibration doesn't happen when there isn't a record actually playing. The needle has to be down, playing a record, for the vibration to take place.

That's what you get for placing it on your receiver.

 

But seriously, my first guess would be a problem with the bearing. Can you actually see the platter "vibrating"? If you put your hand on the turntable base, can you feel a constant vibration?

I'm not familiar with your turntable, but is the platter compatible with it?  I ask because the motors are usually designed for the weight of the platter, and if you've gone from a relatively light one to a relatively heavy one, you may have damaged the motor. 

 

Did you mess with the VTA at all? 

 

And slinch is right, it's not ideal to have it sitting directly on your amp.

I had a similar problem a couple of weeks ago. It turned out that my speakers were making vibrations onto the floor, to the Expedit then to the turntable. Try with headphones and if it's still there, that's not the same issue as me.

 

I put rubber feet under the speakers and the problem went away.

 

Also, make sure your speakers are not directly leaned against your shelf. Keep some space all around.

And THIS was the problem. Apparently one of my Cerwin Vega VS-120's got pushed up against the Expedit and the feedback was being transfered through the bookshelf to the turntable. 

 

I am so very glad that it was something stupid like this and not a problem with the Pro-Ject. Thanks to everyone for their help!

I know that the problem has already been solved, but this platter is designed specifically for this table, and Debut's don't have VTA adjustment.
