NJDevils1214
I use the IKEA Expedit series for my vinyl setup. Tonight I was drawn into one of those stupid yahoo videos and saw one in the background. It is propped up on these two silver blocks. Now I want something like them, but problem is I have no idea what they are called or where I'd find them. I doubt they were made special just for that, they must be something that was lying around. Anyone have any ideas? Any help is appreciated. Please don't just suggest I use cinder blocks or something
allenh
The expedit isn't that strong so if you had one full of vinyl on those blocks wouldn't it droop? Depends how big an expedit you have I suppose.
Korgull Of Morgoth
I tried something similar with my old 4x4 Expedit and because of fucked up, warped floor it got totally deformed on the lower board. After a few months it looked something like this ___/¯\_________/¯\____
radiatorhums
You could try something like this : http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80211923/ I'm with the previous posters regarding weight too.
NJDevils1214
Thanks for the link and the input guys, I appreciate it. I agree, the possibility drooping makes sense now that I think about it. Those legs might work if I put a pair in the center like in the picture though. People are getting pretty big on the LEDs and I am getting on the band wagon myself. I thought it would look cool if I bought some and put them under the Expedit. bermudanc94
weinerdog
It does work if you put in enough legs. We have a 4x2 expedit and used 2 sets of these: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20049538/ Plenty of support and no droop. Probably a bit overkill actually. This was going to be my suggestion as well. They're cheap, so go for 'em. Remember the veneered "slabs" that compose the Expedit walls are just a sort of honeycomb structure, so there's not much for the legs' screws to bite into. I'd epoxy the legs to the bottom of the Expedit and then use the longest wood screws that will fit. And of course, apply wood glue liberally when building up the basic unit. suchashorttime
i use those legs on mine. my only suggestion is to buy 2 packs, and use 2 more to reinforce the middle of the expedit. i only used 4 (1 on each corner), and 2 years later and 8 cubes full of vinyl later, the shelf is droopy in the middle. NJDevils1214
I appreciate you all taking the time to help me out. I'm excited to add to the aestetics of my setup and glad that I can run things by people here to avoid mishaps.
