  1. I dunno. I listened to the OG press, then the ETR press, then the new repress. I could barely tell a difference between all three.
  2. I can't speak for the fan base, but only give my personal opinion. Their third album is where they fell off for me. It just felt generic compared to Casually and Hours. It wasn't until The Young and Defenceless where I had hope again, as it sounded like a good mix of their old and new sound. But I was pretty let down when Welcome Home Armageddon dropped. The Young and Defenceless was supposed to be a preview of what that was to sound like, but it just sounded generic and boring overall to me.
  3. I actually like the pinwheel. If you do, you'll more likely end up with the more rare variant, if that means anything to you...
  4. Wasn't a huge fan of Greyview, but enjoyed the new single. Link: https://iaspply.com/
  5. TL:DR - The latest 45rpm repress is the best sounding, in my opinion. Hope this may or may not help anyone on the fence about getting this latest pressing. With the wife out of town, I finally got a chance to compare the OG press with the 33rpm press and the latest 45rpm repress. Disclaimer: This is the opinion of one person, and I won't claim to be some audiophile. This is just based on my ears, which may not be the greatest anyway. Setup: Pro-Ject Classic Evo w/Sumiko Amethyst; Anthem STR Integrated Amplifier; Focal Aria 936 speakers Test track (listened to multiple times swapping between all pressings): Part 2 I'll start with the 33rpm press. This was the worst sounding, and it wasn't honestly that bad. Basically, it sounded like all the instruments were in a tunnel stacked on top of one another. That doesn't mean there was echo or a tunnel-like sound, but simply everything was placed directly in front of you, with no separation. Despite this, everything sounded relatively clear. Next, the 45rpm OG press. As soon as I put this on, I could hear the difference. There was a stage. Everything was spread out and clear. I enjoyed the extra depth it provided. But maybe too spread out? Lastly, it felt a bit bombastic when everything kicked in midway through. (Go listen to the track and you'll know the part I'm talking about. Sorry for the poor articulation.) Last, the latest 45rpm repress. What makes it better? Basically, it takes the separation and hones in instruments and sounds, along with providing additional clarity on certain instruments. Some instruments like the acoustic guitar are front and center, while the electric sounds off to the sides. It's this added detail and focus that puts this in the top spot for me. With all of that said, unless you have a system capable of that kind of detail, I'm not sure you'd hear a difference between the OG press and the latest repress. Again, all just my opinion, so take it for what it's worth.
  6. The red was up on Suicide Squeeze and on their bandcamp page. Both are sold out.
  7. Mordant Rapture - The Abnegation Not typically what I'm into, but definitely enjoyed this. Price is a bit aggressive though. https://www.theartisanerastore.com/collections/mordant-rapture
  8. CM Link: https://centurymedia.store/product/Y4CE441COMBO/vildhjarta-msstaden-under-vatten-black-2lp-digital-download?cp=null It's a few bucks cheaper than Indie Merch, but I didn't compare shipping, so may be more overall.
  9. New variant (Half White Half Neon Violet /1000) https://merch.ambientinks.com/collections/minusthebear/products/preorder-planet-of-ice-2xlp
  10. Gave it a listen, or as much as I could. Man, these guys fell off hard. And I thought it couldn't get worse than Anon....
  11. It's up! 300 Black & White Marble 300 "Natural" Link to the store where you can choose your region: https://unfdcentral.com/store/
  12. Let me know when there's a bacon vinyl, preferably made from Peppa Pig.
  13. Can you elaborate further on the perfect amp comment? For example, if I went with the Dali Opticon 8 MK2's, they have a 300 watt at 4 ohm max. The Parasound Hint 6 has 270 watts per channel at 4 ohms, which should power the speakers well. Plus, the Parasound had a phono stage that supports a MC cartridge. Is there more I should be looking at? I'm really only going to be using this for the turntable. Would it be better to get a separate phono stage, pre-amp, and amp? I was originally looking at a full Pro-ject setup (Phono Box RS, Pre Box RS, Power Box RS, and Amp Box RS Stereo), but it felt like over kill.
  14. Thanks all. I went to a local HiFi shop and got to test out a bunch of equipment. Speaker wise, I landed on the Dali Opticon 6's, but will be comparing them to the 8's when they get them in. They also had a dealer bring in The Funk Firm's LSD turntable. It was upgraded with the FX3 arm as well. I was able to compare it with a Debut Carbon they had there. Honestly, I could barely tell the difference between a $5500 table and a $500 table, so I'm digging deeper on what I want to go with in this space. I don't want to short myself with a $500 table, but it's clear that the gains are very slim in this space for the money. So I'm leaning towards the Pro-ject Classic Evo with a Sumiko Blackbird. But welcome any suggestions in this area. Finally, I believe I will get an integrated amp, but it obviously needs to support a MC cartridge. I'm looking at the Parasound MINT 6 and the Musical Fidelity M6si. Also welcome any other suggestions in this space as well.
  15. I would have to assume it's just supply and demand. In your Stranger Danger example, even though only 150 copies exist of that specific variant, how many copies exist in total across all variants? If everyone that wants a copy has a copy, then demand won't be there. And if in your Superbloom example, the only pressing is that /600 one, and a few thousand people still want it but don't have it, the price can be driven up. If you're looking for an answer as to "Why?" one may have more demand than the other, there are far too many variables to say. Maybe a specific variant looks the best/coolest so everyone wants it. Or everyone wants the rarest variant. Or that particular album sucked and no one wants it. Or one pressing sounds significant better than the other pressings. The list is endless.
  16. Not sure if there are many Algorithm fans on the boards, but Brute Force is getting pressed. Comes in either multicolor or black. No word on pressing quantity. https://thealgorithm.bandcamp.com/album/brute-force
