  1. If TBS made an album every 5 years... played 3 shows a year in the US... and didnt give a shit about their fans... then people would care more
  2. Blue and black splatter vinyl from Outer Battery Records out now. Out of 300. http://www.outerbatteryrecords.com/products/the-notwist-shrink-lp
  3. Either one is fine... it's up to you. Id get the atlp120 though. Comes with a better cartridge than the orbit basic model, has pitch control, and a cue lever. You can upgrade the orbit to the atn95e cartridge (that comes with the atlp120), and add a cue lever, and it should cost around the same as an atlp120. But you won't have the pitch control, which is nice to have. I started out active, and am going passive. Thats all I'll say about that since theres so much info about that stuff. Just do some research and pick.
  4. Both tables are great if you are a beginner. Just starting out. You want to stick to your budget, and thats fine really. I think at your price range, these are the only 2 tables you should be looking at. If you go with an atlp 120 - Has built in preamp which you will need to play it through speakers - If you buy active (powered) speakers, you wont need anything else... just turn the built in preamp on, and connect it directly to the speakers. Here you will have table/preamp combo>powered speakers. - If you buy passive speakers, you will need an amp to power them... you will still need a preamp... here you have table>preamp>amp>passive speakers. If you go with an orbit - you will need a preamp - If you go with active (powered) speakers... orbit>preamp>speakers - If you go with passive speakers... orbit>preamp>amp>speakers Some amps will come with a preamp installed already... so if you go with passive speakers, thats something to know. I started out with an atlp 120 and have owned an orbit. If you decide you like to play records, and find yourself looking for an upgrade, it'd be best to get a different table than to upgrade these. Goodluck. Also http://boards.vinylc...asic-questions/ .
  5. Never had the residue problem with the mofi sleeves. but you know... scuffs. anyways... Once I start making more, I guess I'll post how I make em' and what I use.
  6. Store them like everyone else... In some sort of polyethylene sleeve and upright. Who's Haywood? Shoulda known. I'm assuming this is part of the issue. Even without static I'd get these scuffing problems... I mean if any of the sleeves work for you guys, thats great. They just didn't pan out for me. So I made the ones above to just eliminate sliding records in and out. I just set it in the center and close it like an envelope. Its pretty easy to slide in, and it doesn't come apart. Now I have to make about 70 of em'. :l
  7. I know there are tons of topics on this forum about this. just wanted to vent a little... I am done experimenting with record inner sleeves... i've tried most of them, mofi, nitty gritty, nagaoka, sleeve city, and random ones on ebay. I found that all of them scuff vinyl one way or another. And not all vinyl gets scuffed equally. Some records are more resistant to scuffing than others. For example, my copies of tegan and saras' albums all scuffed so easily with all the sleeves mentioned above, but ghostface's 36 seasons seems indestructible. The best sleeves I found were these sleeves from germany that were paper lined with the same plastic as the nagaoka sleeves, but they just scuff records slower than the others. It is extremely frustrating. The problem seems to be, not when sliding the records out of the sleeve, but sliding it in. so... i'm going to try making some sleeves for myself... ones where I don't have to slide a record in... ones that fold over or something... I love vinyl... am pretty proud of my collection... and i can go back to enjoying it once I solve this problem.
  8. "Part of a new partnership between Bad Timing, Favorite Gentlemen and Devine, the Brother’s Blood reissue comes in the form of a double LP record housed in a gatefold jacket with die-cut packaging. The D side of the release contains songs from Devine’s ‘I Could Be With Anyone’ EP. This early-2015 release kicks off what will be a busy year for Devine–fans can expect plenty of new material from the Brooklyn-based songwriter as well as more revisitations to his past work throughout the year." I mean did any one know this was happening? I think someone messed up and announced it early... or am i missing something and you all know about these
  9. 45 bundle for me... will try and gift access passes to as many friends as I can during the campaign
  10. one is up on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/381083079126?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT also if you are still looking for put your ghost to rest, someone was taking offers (he also has the split country/clocks combo vinyl) http://boards.vinylcollective.com/topic/105355-the-i-need-a-new-guitar-so-buy-my-records-thread-ragc-yfw-iodine-bad-books-all-get-out-etc/?hl=%20kevin%20%20devine
  11. This a great starter turntable. Might be your first "real" turntable, and your last. Having the strobe and quartz lock there is awesome, and having the VTA somewhat adjustable is good too. Not to mention it is a pretty looking turntable. It should come with an AT95E cartridge which is also a beginner cartridge. I have a pro-ject carbon, and still really liked the ATLP120.
  12. Seems like it. I will probably move on to some passive speakers.
  13. Yeah... im done with switching around plugs. Ordered a new power brick. I'll see how that goes.
