  1. I didn't win, but I sort of think I didn't loose by as much as Denver. Fun contest. Congrats to the winners!
  2. Thirsty Moon got shut down? That sucks. Also, check out F/i, especially In the Garden of Blanga.
  3. That is pitiquette rule number one. Number two is if you find a hat on the ground, pick it up and hold it in the air so its owner can find it. Number three is if someone needs to tie their shoe, two or more people need to form a protective circle. Number four is NO WIMPS.
  4. If you don't follow the rules, how are we to know you're a punk rocker?
  5. I really get pissed when everyone hangs out outside for the opening bands and only comes inside for the headliner. I'm not saying I like every opening bad, but you should at least support the local scene. Some times you're pleasantly surprised.
  6. I'm in for FTL, but out for Tampa. I'll hit you up before the show. I've got my Ghost tickets, so I'll be there as well.
  7. Juan comes pretty close to mine... I wear stuff I'll be comfortable in, but is likely somewhat related to the band I'm seeing. I'll only wear my battle vest at metal shows. The only time I'll wear a shirt of the band I'm seeing is the Queers, and it's a 1994 shirt. I do listen to the bands I'm seeing. Partly to get me pumped, partly because if my wife is going, she may not be super familiar. I always say I'll bring earplugs. Sometimes I remember, sometimes I forget. If it's a band I love, I'm right up front, pit or no. If it's a band I love, I'll always buy something, just to keep them going. I'm always drunk. But never too much to remember. Juan, I'll see you at Deafheaven? I'll buy the first round. I'll be the guy not wearing a Deafheaven shirt.
  8. OK...my wife is demanding to know your wife's secrets to folding t-shirts. Give it up.
  9. Fair warning...I'm pretty drunk. But I don't get links like this: http://agreenroad.blogspot.ca/2013/03/70-of-all-sea-lions-dying-in-california.html It's almost all self citing. Or citing similar types of sources. I'm not saying that there's not damage or risk here, but I can't take half these sources seriously. *** edit *** Bold and red. Must be legit.
  10. I bow down to your cosmic reign. And Hawkwind. And grain alcohol.
  11. Emetic records has 4 copies on camo. http://www.emeticrecords.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=BR%2DHK%2DLP%2Dclr
  12. Blasted it all day today. Not normally my thing, but yeah...I dig it too.
  13. Ok, I really don't mean to be a dick. I have consumed a lot of alcohol. BUT...did he learn anything? 1) Sticks fingers in an 8 track and says "you can record your voice." 2) Uses ziplock to protect needle from dust, then drags it over stylus. 3) Wears rubber glove to keep fingerprints off of jacket, but films with gloved hand and holds jacket with bare hand. 4) Manhandles actual record. 5) Scratches record like a DJ saying that no one knows if that's bad for records. 6) Can't pronounce vinyl. I appreciate the enthusiasm, honestly, I do. But this kid didn't learn anything. Yet he's making a video explaining things to other people. God, I'm old and cranky.
  14. I think that's the nail on the head. it IS a 15 (or whatever) year old giving a speech to the entire internet. How is it our fault for consuming exactly what he fed us and reporting how it tastes? I do speak/act differently with friends, family, etc. And I would sure as shit speak differently if I was speaking to anyone who might stumble upon what I have to say. Especially the way I drink.
  15. I wouldn't say I'm a woodworker, but whenever we need cabinets or whatnot, my wife and I build them. We were going to replace the vanity in our downstairs bathroom and it turned out it was an odd size. We build the counter top and spent today tiling it. Nice to do a smaller project for change. So much satisfaction!
  16. To manhandle stock in a record shop! And no...I'd never hire this kid. Not even to mow my lawn.
  17. My best friends have a 19 year old (adopted) son. From what I've seen of him and his friends, it is sadly the norm. Stuff like this kid is doing, while funny/annoying as shit, is harmless. It's the rest of the crap they post on Facebook, Tumblr, that's going to screw them in the end. They don't seem to have any clue that potential employers will Google your ass. When all that shit comes up, these kids are fucked. I'd hire this kid though.
  18. All in good fun. It was a tossup between that and "A juggalo says what?"
  19. This has been a great week for first time posts on VC. 2014 is shaping up to be fantastic.
  20. How about we all agree that it's a perfect blend of youthful enthusiasm and stupidity?
  21. They should keep pressing this until there's a copy in every house.
