  1. Shintaro Sakamoto - How To Live With A Phantom Eddie Spaghetti - The Value Of Nothing Aaron Freeman - Marvelous Clouds Kyuss - Welcome To Sky Valley Fatso Jetson - Toasted Sir Lord Baltimore - S/T (Ordered in May, arrived yesterday...)
  2. Not in London I'm afraid, but if you need any DW UK exclusives or anything you can always give me a shout !
  3. Last week I discovered that I owned a copy of a rather rare LP by a band called Harsh Reality. Seriously didn't know that it was there. Sold it on for close to £200 ! So with that money, I have just ordered a new Goldring 1042 stylus. I was way overdue a new stylus... think its been 5 years since the last one.
  4. I got the regular edition last week. The album has grown on me massively now that I have gotten past the initial disappointment that it is not a 'heavy' album, and am really enjoying it for what it is. No warping, but noticeable surface noise.
  5. Went to pick up my Mad Season 7" that I won from Music On Vinyl... and couldn't resist picking up a copy of QOTSA - Like Clockwork (Std issue).
  6. Got this in the mail this morning. Nice gatefold sleeve with printed inners. The discs are heavyweight and the whole package feels very high quality, especially for the budget £12.99 price tag Shame they have compressed the hell out of it, does not sound good to my ears. Quieter moments sound fine, but as soon as any heaviness kicks in the dynamics are lost and everything just seems a bit muddy/noisy. Would be interested to hear opinions from others who have the vinyl.
  7. Not entirely related, but I just heard from Music On Vinyl that I am 1 of 10 winners of their RSD Mad Season competition! So I get one of the limited 7" singles they pressed with the 2 new Lanegan tracks on them. Pretty chuffed, just wanted to show off really.
  8. Lets get down to brass tax here..... How much for the ape?
  9. A successful trip yeterday... Inspiral Carpets - The Beast Inside The Jungle Book - Disney LP (which was a freebie) and then while digging through crates of crap LP's I find.... Twilight Singers - Blackberry Belle Holy crap, could hardly contain myself! Haven't found anything cool while crate digging for years!
  10. Got my purple copy this morning.... Nice pressing, very good sound quality, nice glossy gatefold sleeve, quality package all round. UK buyers should check out Juno records, as it was the cheapest I've seen (under £25).
  11. Well, I admit that EV is my least favourite QOTSA album, partly due to the production. But it still has some classic dirty riffing from JH, such as Turnin' On The Screw, 3's & 7's etc... There's just none of that on the new LP. But you could well be right about it being a grower, once I get over the fact that it is definitely 'different' perhaps it will grow on me... I do hope so!
  12. I've been holding off on pre-ordering this one. I cant decide if I like it or not... I've been a huge fan of the band for 14 years, have spent stupid amounts of money on all J-Ho related releases and gigs etc.... and I just cant bring myself to pull the trigger on this. To me, the songs just sound lame. Perhaps I'm getting old, or I just don't 'get it', but to me it doesn't sounds like a QOTSA record. And to echo nothingnatural's statement, the original pressing of Rated R/X does sound very good.
  13. OK, just got a message back from the label regarding the packaging.... "It comes in a Red, plastic (mylar?) sleeve as there's a visual effect printed on the vinyl, itself that interacts with the transparent, red packaging." ...Not feeling this
  14. Just been out for a jolly and bought: Clutch - Earth Rocker Mark Lanegan/Duke Garwood - Black Pudding And ordered Mother Love Bone 2xLP on purple vinyl
  15. This week the postie has brought me: Afterhours - Ballads For Little Hyenas (Feat. Greg Dulli) Lawless - OST Alain Johannes - Spark And ordered, but still waiting for: Sir Lord Baltimore - S/T Plus... the Mrs just WON £3k.... much vinyl will be bought...
  16. Ah well, and there's me thinking I was getting good at deck-spotting! Nevertheless, a stylin' turntable mang.
  17. dnsnlsn, is your turntable a Goldring GR2? I have the black one, looks damn nice in white.
  18. Yep I'm pretty bummed about the picture discs... but what I also want to know is will it be in a gatefold sleeve? Because the last thing I want is to spend that much dollar on pic discs, and have them turn up in just a pvc sleeve with an insert or some shit.
  19. Well I've had a terrific day, and my faith in RSD is fully restored. The last 2 years have been fruitless efforts, usually ending in me coming home angry with no records and a speeding ticket. Today we hit 2 shops in 2 different cities, and managed to snag the 3 records that I really wanted. We went to Spillers, Cardiff (Oldest record shop in the world) and Diverse in Newport. Took the baby with us, had great weather here and we generally had a nice day out. So top day all round. Managed to get the 2x Death Waltz 12", and the Mad Season 2xLP. Oh, and NO queues.
  20. Looks like I'm in the minority here, but I really like it !
  21. Yeah, then follow up Green River with Temple of the Dog and its a done deal.
  22. Spooky, I was thinking to myself only yesterday that MOV should press this. Bloody fantastic news !
