  1. Thanks for posting the link adam...I had been wanting to see it again ever since I caught it on Discovery Channel a while back.
  2. Firefly. If you're into sci-fi with a campy western style, you'd like this.
  3. Damnit! I was passed out by the time this thing rolled out. I was pretty shitfaced myself last night...it would been epic to have all the drunkards kickin' it one thread.
  4. Thanks for the responses...I will follow the suggestions...
  5. The few songs that I heard from them, I have liked...sucks that they're calling it quits.
  6. Dude...I'm all into Japanese pop culture...and even traditional culture...and even that doesn't make sense to me...WTF?
  7. It sounds like a pretty crazy tradition. Being the crazy-ass Latino that I am, I'd be all over this celebration...
  8. Just looked it up: Zozobra ("Old Man Gloom") is the name of a giant marionette effigy that is burned every autumn during Fiestas de Santa Fe in Santa Fe, New Mexico, usually during the second week of September. As his name suggests, he embodies gloom; by burning him, the worries and troubles of the previous year are destroyed in the flames. Sometimes shoppers in the Santa Fe area will see tin cans with pieces of paper next to them in department and local stores. Anyone is welcome to write about anything bothering them. These small papers are put in the cans, and eventually they are all collected and put at Zozobra's feet to be burned alongside him. Fiestas de Santa Fe has been held since 1712 to celebrate the retaking of the city in 1692 by Don Diego de Vargas after the Pueblo Revolt of 1680. The burning of Zozobra dates from 1924, when William Howard Shuster, Jr. came up with the idea of creating the effigy, also called Old Man Gloom. Today over forty thousand people go to watch Zozobra, who stands fifty feet tall and whose burning marks the start of 3 days of celebration that includes mass at St. Francis Cathedral, a reenactment of the Entrada, when de Vargas returned to the city, a Children's pet parade, and the Historical/Hysterical Parade. Zozobra is built by the Kiwanis Club of Santa Fe and burned at Fort Marcy Park. One of the best places to watch Zozobra is from the Cross of the Martyrs north of the Plaza. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zozobra
  9. My brother suggested to donate them to the local library...
  10. This is as old as dirt...I have a bunch of GL releases and they threw in these as well...thank for sharing though... What bugs about GL is that they have more colors than the ones listed for some of the releases but yet no pressing info... But other than that, I feel GL is a solid label...they went out of their way to rectify an issue with an order that I placed which took over a month to get to me...
  11. The songs they have on their Myspace I liked...I laughed my ass off at the John J. Rambo track...I guess it's them acting out the scene from the first movie...it was hilarious!
  12. I wonder if Jake would ever considern doing a second print run of this? I know that artists like Frank Kozik sometimes do a second run of their most popular prints. Like Kozik's "Green Lady" and "Purple Lady".
  13. In the past, I have dumped a bunch of old AP's on eBay and have made a few bucks...which is what I have been looking for, to really get a little bit of cash and get them out of the house. But right now, I have a few and don't really feel like dealing with the hassle as I previously said.
  14. I didn't read any of the comments that people left. Didn't bother. The new album was OK. I liked it...it was an attempt to get back to the "rawness" of their first releases...but it still felt like it was lacking. They will still be one of my favorite bands no matter what. But I still find it amusing that MTV is pushing them as such when the main demographic of the channell is probably too young to know who they are or too into the mainstream shit to really care.
  15. I know there's a few OMG fans here...so where should I start? I am a HUGE ISIS fan so that should be indication enough...and being the fact that A. Turner is in OMG is why I ask...
  16. So Bad Brains is MTV's Artist of the Week. I had heard about this but didn't believe until I actually saw it on MTV as I was channel-flipping. I don't know how to feel about this... http://buzzworthy.mtv.com/2008/02/04/artist-of-the-week-bad-brains/
  17. Hey kyle...tell him I'd be interested in that signed ISIS live record...how can I get more info on that from him?
  18. I read about this. Don't know how many got out. One of indie stores I frequent is holding a copy for me. I may search the other two stores I go to and see if they have it.
  19. ^^ I realized that I quoted the wrong post by ronnie...D'oh! I still haven't gotten mine. But I did get an email from Jason saying that they refunded me for 1 of 2...and that one has already gone out...so I should see it by next week...hopefully.
