I went through all answers and there has been one person, who almost got it (TheComebackKid). The EP I was looking for was Interpol's Fukd ID #3! As there hasn't been a winner, I will put this on ebay and forward the profit to a charity. I'm not that familiar with Ebay's rules, so that may take a little bit.

It'll sell because all these bullshit "remastered from the original original super original master tapes in an all analog environment on equipment that hasn't been used since 1971 and pressed on 9,000,000 gram extra ultra never seen the sun quadruple virgin vinyl at a triple secret pressing plant in Mauritius where there no are environmental laws to keep them from doing it the way it was done in the really good old days, and housed in a 27" thick cardboard slip case made from old growth redwood super board, with a hand-tipped on spot varnished offset printed cover, made using the original negative and hand numbered in a minute edition by the grandson of the original cover model, who is sadly long-dead."
    $85. Sold out by Xmas.

These both came in the mail last week from the great year of 1994.

Built To Spill - There's Nothing Wrong With Love (yellow vinyl!)

Built To Spill - Car/Girl (handmade sleeve!)

I've only owned these for a week and they're some of my favorite records I own.

It has nothing to do with pretentiousness or being unhelpful.

Here's the problem. Records are meant to be listened to and enjoyed. It is definitely an elitist attitude and behavior when someone comes in, as you did, and looking at record collecting as an investment. If you're looking to buy records "that will build value", then you're doing this for all the wrong reasons.

Buying and listening to records is for the music and loving the bands you like, not for investing and building value down the road.

    Hello,

I just bought 6 boxes of records for $20. After looking through them and listening, I am hooked. I want to get into collecting, investing, and selling records. However, I have no idea what to look for. I go to yard sales/ auctions and I am lost. I want to buy records that will build value. I want to keep them for a while so I can hand them down to my kids when they get older. What suggestions do you have for me to be a successful collector?

Ok but seriously, real talk here - you're in this for the wrong reasons. The minute you throw around words like invest and build value, you're barking up the wrong tree. Nobody knows what will go up in value, because nobody knows the future; if we could predict that we would all be financial investment managers and very wealthy. You get into records because you like listening to them, you like the music and the sound they produce, you like holding your favorite albums in your hand and having a physical copy of something, and you almost have an obsession.

Don't get into records for an investment, get into them because you love them and expect to not get anything in return except a piece of happiness when you listen to them. Most of your collection will never appreciate in value, give up on that notion.

hey guys this is cory from the video thanks for "getting" what i was doing lol.

thats def pics of nick alt on the wall of his own store wtf. the cultish vibes in there are palpable. nick was actually there but he RAN in the back of the store when i walked in (thats why i ask whats back there). the #dinnerparty rack was so dire. fucking helen reddy's greatest hits for $12 and a fucking walter murphy ("this guy does the theme to family guy!") for $15 or something...

the other nice woman working at the store was srsly bummed after i asked about the lack of metal and proceeded to punish by listing all these doorcore bands she was into (shes a huge sleep fan btw). she also mentioned that they poached her from southern lord. i asked if vynl was taking care of her and she gave me an enthusiastic "yes!" i can't hate.

sorry for the shitty video i was trying to be discreet jeeze.

Didn't this just get a repress? How is it sold out everywhere already. There's a shitstorm on eBay with rediculous prices for it and I don't get it. The album is just ok to me, and I know it's highly sought after but...idk. I guess I can't really say much because I'm more of a TBS person myself. With that being said, I need one of these for a gift. Anyone know of any places selling them at retail? Thanks.
Edit: I realize this was posted above me and I apologize for not reading the thread properly. Please stop down voting me as I already am in the negative. Thanks.
Edit again: you guys are the worst, I swear.

I agree with "thoughtsky," Sunny Day Real Estate was a great band in my opinion. I have some similar interests as you do, but that really doesn't mean much. Give the Diary album a preview as mentioned. I also really enjoy Built to Spill. Some of their records aren't too hard to come across. My favourite albums from Built to Spill are "Keep it like a Secret" and "There's Nothing Wrong with Love." Give those a shot as well, although you'll most likely have trouble finding "There's nothing wrong with love" on vinyl for cheap.

As for your hip-hop, check: Pete Rock & CL Smooth - The Main Ingredient, Blu & Exile - Below the Heavens, Fugees - The Score, Jeru tha Damaja, Percee P should be good for now, there's a lot of ground to cover here.

Edit: Totally forgot about your "post-rock" comment… check out the band Mogwai if you haven't yet.
