I'm not too far from Troy and I can tell you that they have done A LOT of cleanup from where it was about a decade ago. RPI is great, but the guy to girl ratio could be a problem, and EVERYTHING is uphill from everything else. Winter lasts from about early October until May and it's always windy. The student run music venue is outstanding; one of my buddies is actually in charge of convincing bands to come over and play. Just be aware that you are going to be working your ass off. A lot. RPI does not fuck around and does not show mercy. Oh, and stay away from Schenectady. It's a shithole and needs a hug. FUN FACT! Iron Maiden played one of their first American shows at RPI. True story.

The first fifty seconds of that video was kinda peaceful, but then I got trapped in the worst Mega Man level for all eternity. And Loki and CJ hit every intelligent point I want to make... so... carry on...

I think Pitchfork decides numeric scores by rolling two d10s, then writes an accompanying review. I think I could have picked a better song for every band I know of on this list so far. Some selections are downright awful, but whatever, I didn't make this list. If I come out of there with a few new artists to check out, then I think the list served its purpose. Though most of those bands are probably composed of arty twits who suck either Jeff Tweedy's or Will Oldham's respective dick.

Weezer can get away with writing songs I wouldn't like if they weren't made by Weezer. But then again, I still think there's an outstanding pop album in Make Believe if you trim a song and rearrange the track order...

I just think that The Tropic Rot is Diet Versions. The vocal performances on The Tropic Rot are kind of flat and none of the songs stuck out at all.

Awesome! Um... The Scissor Sisters are four dudes and an ass kicking woman. If the deciding factor for you listening to this band is the prospects of scissoring sisters, you might be disappointed in knowing that there are no sisters in this band, thereby making it impossible to be scissoring sisters. However, I am sure that there are sisters who have scissored to the Scissor Sisters at some or all points in time. It's kinda weird that Yu mentioned New Order's Substance because I bought it today at the mall along with their last album. Weird coincidence.

Scissor Sisters They combine a lot of Bowie, Elton John and other fun pop into one glob of awesome. I love both of their records and can share if needed (both are up on Myspace, and I'd start with the self titled). Nicole can vouch for these dudes and lady. Jessica Lee Mayfield Imagine if Taylor Swift grew up on Lou Reed and was a lot older and wiser than her teenage years make her seem. And The Cardigans have always made awesome pop music.

A lot of Judas Priest and Isis lately. I have a problem finding metal bands aren't either too cheesey or too boring. Power metal bores me to tears; I don't want to hear someone jerking off their guitar for what seems like 20 minutes in a 4 minute song.
