  1. Now, that we are done with state testing, I have been having the kids write like mad. I had them take up the challenge to write a poem a day for a month. I was trying to do it myself as well, but I failed. I had seven kids actually pull it off and a week of that was during vacation. I bought those seven kids some cool journals to continue their work.

If there is any interest, I was thinking of doing another fundraiser for the Poet's Cafe celebration. I think it was $10+ donation and you get a copy of our little staple bound book mailed to you during the summer?

I'll buy one every year as long as you keep making them!

  2. Meeeee tooooooo :D

2666 and Savage Detectives are what I've been through so far. been meaning to pick up some of his shorter stuff for a while now, so I'm stoked to hop into it,

I was on a huge Bolano kick in the fall. I read both those, The Insufferable Gaucho and a biography sorta book by Monica Maristain. I loved them all. I just picked up a collection of his poetry the other day.

I also agree re:Murakami in that he doesn't do much for me either. A really good one though is South of the Border, West of the Sun, about the owner of a jazz club and his childhood love.

  3. MuchMusic top 40 countdown and the edge! Many great underrated bands. Eric's Trip is from my hometown and it is always cool to hear about old shows, touring, and coming across the odd piece of merch.

There are several Eric's Trip 7"s at Taz, or were recently. Julie's solo stuff all deserves to be pressed as well. The album she did with the Wooden Stars came out on vinyl fairly recently, highly recommended.
