If you didn’t cop the box, there should still be zero reason why anyone is missing these records from their collection, regardless of variant.  Good on Numero for keeping them in print even if they’re falling back on their stance of colored represses.

The fear of missing out on missing out on the box?

Lol.  Yes.  I’m just going to run with that.

I still haven’t received a shipping email from numero for Challenge, but yesterday I sent them an email asking for a status on my order. I received a prompt reply saying they were prepping my order for shipment now (what a coincidence!), and my order page on the website is now updated saying shipped. No tracking number, though.

So if you haven’t seen an email, or your order page still says pre-order (like mine did), shoot ‘em an email.

We’re you able to download your Challenge mp3s?  I get an error when I try to get mine

The boxsets are fine.  Not quite up to the usual Numero quality of a full boxset, but the bang:buck ratio is pretty good.  They’re more like “anthology sets” where each album is slipped into a single pocket printed sleeve, and then all of that slides into a hardcover case.  Quality is decent with the occasional hiccup; i.e., the Empire set contains Leaves Turn Inside You, which Numero has acknowledged as having a faulty C side on many copies.  They were offering replacements for a while there, but are sadly out now.

I wouldn’t overpay for a copy of Repetition yet.  There seems to be random indie shops that are receiving the colored press, and it seems to have an MSRP of $20 or so.  Pretty cheap and people are saying it sounds great too.

Yeah I really want to snag that one but so far most copies I’ve found have been outside the US.   Hoping to find one with reasonable shipping.

  4. I’m just now kind of getting into Unwound.  Really like Repetition.

Should I just get the Numero Box that includes that album plus The Future of What?   Is the box set done really well?  I know most of what Numero does is done well.

plus a color vinyl version of Repetition seems like it would almost cost the same

You may not want to wait too long, the main site is showing Sold Out.  I ordered because I’m down for the remixes and extra packaging.  My blue copy isn’t the original mix and I find that it’s not exactly a dealbreaker for me.  (Certainly not anything I’m going to pay $200 to fix with a Zomba mix anyway.)  If I have second thoughts I can easily just cancel before they ship in June.

Certainly the pressing will be larger than what they sold on their page?

I mean the red swirly indie was probably at least 10k right? That sold out in the first weekend for my store, and could not be reordered. While this is not a full album her fan base is huge now. I would be surprised if she didn't go major for her 3rd album.

I’m really worried about a major record label jump.   I hope she won’t since she just started her own record label which is part of secretly.

It's weird. I personally don't get the mentality. If I missed out, I missed out. I'd rather have a nice and thick collection than 10 super rare releases that I can make a bunch of dudes on IG drool over.

At one point in time a long time ago, I would do dumb shit like this for some of my favorite artists.  But I quickly learned the lesson you just stated above.

that and I said I’d never help a “middle-man” profit off a release again
