I love that they are reissuing all of these, and I am excited to get another copy to give my original pressing a rest, but I really wish all of these 25th anniversary reissues had a bonus disc on vinyl of the bsides and rarities. I may be wrong, but I believe Out of Time has been the only one up to this point to do so? Monster also perplexingly was the only one to get an alternate mix? I’m not complaining, but they’re about as consistent as the Bowie camp has been on reissues. R.E.M. is (in my opinion) the greatest American rock band of all time, and they deserve to get the best treatment in getting all of their material in the hands of their fans. There are some gems that came after Eponymous and Dead Letter Office that I’d love to have on vinyl without tracking down the original 7” singles. Anyways, I’m very happy that anyone who’s had a New Adventures In HiFi sized hole in their collection can now plug it, if they choose to do so.
Agreed. I would have bought this instantly if that cd disc of b-sides and rarities was part of the LP.

I’m a little shocked these are still available

Grabbed the Black Is and Rise

What do you think of the record if you’ve had a chance to listen to the digital files yet?
Production on the vocals are super shiny which is a change. At first I wasn’t really digging it, but it’s grown on me and I’ve been listening to it a lot.
overall, I think im going to end up loving this record.

Good person right there. Thanks for sparing us the headache over $10 split a half dozen ways.
Yeah no reason for that

I couldn’t cancel my Newbury order in time once I saw these were selling again so I guess I’ll have two variants.

I grabbed the Polyvinyl

That would have been a BNM for Ian Cohen

Came here to agree with this one, the distortion and intensity has definitely been turned up to 11 on this one
Awesome!

Bought the Yellow Electric version despite that hefty price

I'm not really taken with the new cover - in part because this has been one of my favorite albums for over 20 years and I'm just used to old cover, and in part because I just don't think this is an improvement - but even setting that to the side it feels like a really weird move to change the cover but still use the original cover for the shirts.
Regardless I bought one + a shirt; even having the VMP pressing I do want to make sure I get a copy of each reissue in this program.
It does seem very weird to change the cover of the album but to use the old one on the T-shirts, I agree

These reissues were curated by J Spaceman which includes choosing the covers. I’m not going to argue with him on those. But I also understand those not wanting to double dip after getting the VMP one

Yeah, changing the iconic cover art is a dealbreaker for me. With VMP not being a option, here’s hoping a solid repress is somewhere on the horizon.
You can still get the VMP version for just slightly over what they sold it for originally on discogs
-
Definitely buying because I opted not to pay for the VMP version.
ill be most pleased with this and hopefully at a price less than the VMP one

Think they’ll announce a variant or 10 once these sell out? This is Nothing after all.
Maybe eventually years down the road but they would get a lot of cancelled orders for this if they did that right after this sells out
-
Well I took a $56 chance on it. Might regret it

This is where I’m at. I’m ok with some sporadically if I like the clean stuff and the instrumentation (Wildrun, for example) or if it’s low enough in the mix maybe (Soldat Hans) but a whole album of it just sounds like when my two year old tries to talk like Cookie Monster. I consider this a personal failing, but there it is.
Yeah it’s probably a personal failing on my part too

100% clean vocals, so it's going to piss the regular crowd off. Instrumentation is excellent as always. "Now I see..." part is a bit repetitive. I'm not sure what to think just yet, but I like Great Mass of Color more right now.
Welp looks like I might have to buy my first Deafheaven album then.
