I'm not so sure. Unless they cut a side differently, the 11LP description has each Demo set as having 2 LPs (well, 6 LPs of demos over 3 collections, so I guess 2 per set). One of those 3 sets is in the 7LP set plus the 5 LPs from the album and the live show, thats 7 discs. So unless one of those sides was cut differently, I'm not sure where the Sound Opinion live cuts are.

The DL is only other offering with just the live takes from SO (the 8CD and 11LP having the full broadcast). Makes me think maybe the SO cuts are DL only. I guess we'll see, but I'll be a little bummed if those 5 songs are only available on the 7LP set, when they could have easily been included on the 11 too.

Maybe they are included on the vinyl in the 11 LP.  But the CD that comes with the 11LP is definitely that SO performance in its entirety.

whereas the digital copy of songs that comes with the 7LP only includes the songs from SO.  So they may only be DL only on this version?

Do the descriptions make it sound like Sound Opinions (or the songs at least) are on vinyl in the 7LP set, but only on CD in the 11?

I'm pretty certain it's CD only on the 11 LP version.  That's pretty consistent in the listings.  What I'm not sure of is how it comes in the 7LP.  There is no CD with that so it's either on vinyl or just included in the digital download.

    No, he's not.

But the demos really give an insight to what Jeff and Jay were setting out to do. You see the bridge between Summerteeth/Mermaid Sessions and YHF.

If you're looking for more of what Jim brought to the table, the best you'll get is Jeff trying to do Jim w/o him around. But to hear the YHF material in its nascent stages is really cool too. Basically if you liked the working version that were in the movie, the demos are like that.

I am interested and I'm thinking that the one "making of" version on the 7LP would be interest enough for me when it comes to having it on vinyl.  But I'll definitely listen to all of the demos at least once at some point.

The 11LP set is my dream set. I listen to those 2 Demo discs probably more than the record now. If that’s what these bonus discs are, I’m all in for the 11.

I've never heard the demos before but I gotta say that one of the main reasons I love this album is because of Jim O'Rourke.  Is he involved in a lot of the demos or the making of the album versions?

The Ride reissues are up at Rough Trade NY

I ordered from Norman Records in the UK instead. It was a couple of dollars cheaper than Rough Trade and I know they'll remove the records from the sleeves when they pack up the records. Rough Trade won't do that so there's no guarantee they won't arrive with seam splits.

Yeah Norman Records was cheaper for me as well.

Who knows if this is correct (and even if it is it doesn’t mean it won’t change), but the BV article about these from today states: “Unfortunately these Wichita reissues are UK only, but their web store does ship to North America.”

i was going to wait but I went ahead and just ate the higher shipping.

Thanks!  I’ll go ahead and grab the UK version and then see if they eventually have US stores.

It says sold out.  Although I imagine this variant was /1000, there’s nothing definitive about that.  The website s said the first 1000 vinyl orders got a signed card.  So maybe there was /750 and the first /250 purples get one?
