post your set-up thread

Figured this would be a good thread to let you guys know I picked up a very nice and affordable anti-static slipmat and received some very quick (& cheap) shipping as well as perfect customer service. He even took my payment via PayPal without me signing up for etsy; which is required to purchase items on the site. PO: Lightning Bolt - Fantasy Empire
Neanderthal replied to fitterhappier's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
Lightning Bolt has a pretty great discography really and as much as I love Hella, LB is my favorite two piece band (in this sphere of music). As far as recs go, I'd highly advise Daughters if you haven't already. Lots of substance behind their music. -
Pyramids - A Northern Meadow (Profound Lore)

The best part of 45 rpm in my opinion is hearing the record at 33 rpm haha. Other than that I think it brings more surface noise and wear on the needle, but I'm not even sure that's true. In my past experiences, 45 rpm records just don't sound as good to me. I have a soft spot for single LP gatefolds. -
Does anyone know any further information than just this? It's been about a year now with no news and OG copies of their works are far too expensive. http://www.thewire.co.uk/news/29571/this-heat-announce-three-vinyl-reissues

They didn't omit any tracks though did they? -
I hear ya. That's the sort of sound/transition I feel the new Sannhet record had. More familiar, more cliche, etc. I'm pretty sure Mamleek is the only "black metal" band to use all programmed drums, maybe aside from Blut aus Nord, so I doubt their implementation will be run of the mill. (Hopefully!) That would be awesome, I'd look forward to it.

Oh fuck thanks for posting that. I've had a few drinks but damn that makes me even more excited knowing there's live drums. Really interested despite my love for the programmed drums in the past. Fever Dream is easily my favorite record of theirs, but I have high hopes for this full length. Dat artwork too.

I'm buying my ticket expecting them to flake. So if they do, I'm not disappointed. -

Thank god. They were the only reason I bought my FYF ticket this past year. -

Yeah, I'd agree Return to Annihilation is probably the best introductory album to the band. -

Bergman is my favorite thus far. I have The Seventh Seal, Wild Strawberries, The Magician, and Persona. I definitely need to pick up Wes Anderson's flicks, haven't seen one I don't like. Funny you mentioned Solaris and The Double Life of Veronique - I almost bought those 2 during the flash sale. I'm skeptical of Solaris because I might think it's too cheesy because I haven't seen it yet. I really like the idea of the film, but sometimes I can't watch old sci-fi because I think it looks bad.

I'm a big fan of Defoe and Von Trier. I saw it when it came out and it fucked me up for awhile, haha. Oh seriously! I thought the acting was as phenomenal as the writing and cinematography. I wanted to watch it again right after it ended! And the ending is seriously a damn cliff hanger but it's perfect. What are some of your favorites? I'm trying to compile a list for the next flash sale. So far I've got: By Brakhage A Hollis Frampton Odyssey La Jetee/Sans Soleil Autumn Sonata

I'd say try Locrian. I don't know a ton about them but I like everything I've heard, and they have a nice mixture of influences. Eternal Return reminds me of M83 and Inverted Ruins is straight up power electronics worship. -

These are bound to be goodies. Two new Total Black releases: http://totalblack.bigcartel.com/product/32-d-a-r-f-d-h-s-persuasion-cs http://totalblack.bigcartel.com/product/31-fingering-eve-2-cs -
Dunno why I thought this was the Old Man Gloom thread haha, I listened to this album yesterday! Regardless, a lot of stuff is in B. I play bass, but when I was learning material from Panopticon and Oceanic it was for the most part in B; if not all of it. And maybe as a blatant truth, Meditations in B. The kicker for me is in the title track The Deal, that 7 at 8:33 and on is the heaviest fucking thing. Gets me rock hard.
