  1. Anyone get their green copy from NB yet? I'm already seeing copies on eBay and Discogs, but on my order page it still says "in progress"
  2. I did a search and nothing came up. A few records that have been on my wishlist for a while are available as "Used — Very Good" through Amazon Warehouse, and available for prime shipping. Obviously they're not going by goldmine grading standards. Just wondering if anyone has taken the chance on these deals.
  3. I have OG copies of Land of, The Mind is, and Filth Pig. I'd forgotten Dream Song wasn't on there and that bewilders me. I might have to pick up the MOV version to compare.
  4. Do these boots have the alternate verse on Pay No Mind that the OG LP has? This should tell if they at least sourced it from CD.
  5. Electric Lady Land was one of those 2LPs marketed towards stacking players, so disc one was side 1 & 4, and disc two was side 2 & 3. At least that's how my early 70's reissue is. Both on Reprise getting stamped around the same time, chances are this is a weird factory mispress. Doubt it's worth anything though. I'd try to get your money back.
  6. "Good dynamic" quiet, or they packed too much music on one side so I have to turn my stereo way up to compensate quiet?
  7. Because cancelation policies exist for a multitude of reasons and I want to cancel my order because none of your fucking business, that's why. If you can't be bothered to help people with questions, why bother posting in the first place then?!?!
  8. Strange. I wouldn't have thought opening a discussion of how to lessen the taking-advantage-of aspect of something we're all here for would receive such a negative reaction.
  9. This supply and demand thing for records is pretty dangerous, and the prices are getting out of hand. Doesn't matter if there's a premium on the record due to shipping from Finland or the Netherlands, or licensing rights, if distributors see that we're willing to pay $40, 50, 60 for a vinyl record, what's to stop them from raising the price that high for new/U.S. based pressings? We're already seeing it with the new $30 reissues SRC is putting out. I'm pledging at this point, i'm not paying more than $25(shipped) for an album. I don't HAVE TO have ANYTHING at a cost more than that, which will fill up 1/16th to 1/8th of an inch on a shelf. This includes buying used on eBay. People are taking advantage at the high prices people are paying. It's nuts out there. No more, not for me. I don't care if it was shipping from the moon in special space packaging, i'm not paying >$20 for an album.
  10. I tried emailing support@shopradiocast a few days ago with my order number and haven't heard anything back. How long does it usually take for them to get around to an order cancellation?
  11. Yeah, it pisses me off too. I would think the cost difference couldn't be THAT much that they need to make copies in such limited numbers. I mean, the expensive part is having the lacquer made, right? So why not press at least 500? Vinyl is in a higher demand today than it's been in probably the last 25 years, so these limited pressings ONLY benefit the flippers.
  12. Price made me do a quick double-take, but I figure it's worth it for the collector value for Finch fans. I always felt this album was more grown-up than What It Is, which is probably why it's less popular in some circles...
  13. Yes, please. My apologies again. On topic: I'm a bit confused by this thread. Are these Cloudkicker records available or sold out? I do love that music.
  14. Thanks for replying directly to me. Don't get me wrong, I didn't miss the point of the collection. There a reason I haven't tried to hock it on eBay. A few of the discs I think sounded very good. Specifically Alien and City though (the two I was looking most forward to) just lacked in both low-end punch and high-end brilliance for me, a problem I don't have with other records I own. Alien at least I had the CD since 2005, so I felt I have a good idea of how dynamic that can sound with its 808 hits. Compared to the CD, I found the vinyl lacking in these departments (the reason I used the term 'vinyl warmth'). The CD still hits hard on my system through the same amp and speakers, but every time there's an 808 hit on the vinyl it just sounds like brown mush. I even purchased a new cartridge giving the pressing the benefit of the doubt, but I got the same results. I tried asking you guys on Facebook for listening gear recommendations but you said you didn't do that, I assume for liability purposes which I understand. Having said all that, overall I'm happy enough for the box set and the wonderful book included, I just wish I felt more inclined to put the actual records on my turntable. My apologies for detracting from the actual topic at hand. I saw an opportunity to speak my piece and took it. Thanks again.
  15. I was actually REALLY disappointed with the sound quality of the Strapping Young Lad box set that I spent $250 on. Sounded like someone in the mastering booth was trying too hard to give it that 'vinyl warmth' and it came out sounding like non-dynamic mush. Alien was the biggest disappointment of them all. That being my only Blood Music listening experience, I'll pass on this.
  16. That's surprising. MOV usually knocks out good sound quality. Plus others have said their MOV Throwing Copper copies sound good. Anyone else have this experience?
  17. If these are pressed at Pallas then they're worth every penny. I didn't pay much mind to pressing location until I got the most recent reissue of Nevermind. I'm sure that was mastered off digital, and I just wanted a copy for my collection. It came with a 'Pressed at Pallas' sticker on the shrink and did some research on them. They're absolute perfectionists over there and it's the best sounding record I own.
  18. The Plain Records copy sounds like complete shit. I bought one new on Ebay a while back. Played it once and turned around a re-sold it. It sounded over compressed and completely lifeless. I got the newer German bootleg a few months ago, and it's leaps and bounds better sounding than the Plain Records. I'm not going to say I was blown away, but it's not bad. Between the '03 Loveless reissue and the Disco Volante they put out, I'll never even consider something by Plain Records again, and cannot recommend highly enough not to waste your money. If you have a copy of the Plain reissue, I recommend selling it on Ebay now while people are still paying stupid money for it.
