Nah not really. I have a spin clean or whatever but rarely use it. I just pump a ton of money into the hobby and then don’t even take it seriously. I’m pretty weak.

I guess I am too. Those spin cleans look sweet, but for old, dirty records I pick up, I just use dawn and water. It works well enough if the record is just slammed with dirt.

Apparently my copy is out for delivery and is not arriving late. Pumped!

My deluxe is pretty poppy towards the end of each side. To be fair I haven’t done shit but run an anti static brush over it though.

Do you ever do anything more than that? Genuinely curious, because that’s all I do with new records.

On the topic, my record was supposed to be here today but is “Arriving late”. Very ready to jam this. Might break down and listen to it tomorrow before it gets here.

I wish I could get into new music from this band. 1372 Overton Park was the last passable album for me. I'm happy y'all are happy though.

I feel similar, but I also enjoyed among the ghosts. Some really great tunes on that record. I just didn’t dig the Memphis blues thing they had going for a while, but it was awesome they experimented with it.

Man. This set is how its done. Great package. Cut is great. Vinyl is perfect.

If you are considering this, go get it now.

Completely agree. 3 LPs, great packaging, it sounds killer, and it’s Wildflowers. 180 gram or not, this is an awesome reissue and $40 is more than reasonable. I can’t believe anyone is complaining about this even a little bit.

  5. I’ve loved the Smashing Pumpkins for a long, long time. If I absolutely had to say, I guess they’re my favorite band and have been for 26 years. I’ve been very optimistic with all of their recent releases and have found some good in all of them. I thought Silvery Sometimes off Shiny and Oh So Bright was pretty good and a couple others weren’t bad. I also listened to Oceania again for the first time in years and enjoyed that and will have to spin Monuments as well, but the 4 songs they’ve released for this new record have been a big bummer for me. I completely agree with everyone’s confusion on such a synth heavy sound with 3 guitars and programmed drums when Jimmy fucking Chamberlain is in your band. I’ll give it a chance, but so far The Colour of Love is just palatable.  The others Ill do without. Hopefully we’ll get some rockers.

New Kestrels is up on Spotify now, still some copies on blue wax available - pix look awesome.

This record is SO good - https://open.spotify.com/album/3BdSjhziEADlPozzsYCF0x?si=SUMBENZGRiqDv8J_wK_zWQ

Got mine last week, but haven’t been able to listen because my receiver is in the shop. The rainbow splatter looks killer though!

Surprised no one has added this to Discogs yet. Tried to add it to my collection, but only the files are up. No LP.

Good luck finding a copy of Everything Else Matters! I originally had the Amber Glitter, but after 2 or 3 spins, it got noisy as heck. So I traded for a RP I could actually listen to - full disclosure but the demand was so high at the time.  When the first vinyl dropped, it sold out quickly, and  it was like they had represses all ready to go, so as soon as AC30 sold, out, there was a 2nd one up. It likewise evaporated, and then another was immediately up.

Well shit. I listened to EEM and it’s great. I’d love to have a copy, but you’re right. Everything I have found is $$. AC30 has the “Starry” variant for 50gbp. Pretty pricey. Anyone know how that one sounds? Any word on a repress?

PSUB: with EEM and Grandfeathered, you can tell it's the same band. They dropped to 3 members and moved to LA, then wrote Miserable Miracles, which is more of pop album than ethereal, dream- and noisegaze album. Big shift.

Ah ok, that makes sense. I definitely want to check out Everything Else Matters then. I just picked up Blankenberge-More and have jammed it quite a bit. Killer record. Surprised I’ve just now come across them.

And holy shit I’m glad I snagged that Kestrels record. That thing is wild. New jam with Mascis is awesome too.

Edit: Just checking my order confirmation for the new Kestrels and it says Transparent blue w/ rainbow splatter. Going back to the Darla store, the option now says clear w/rainbow splatter. I don’t really care it looks great, just wondering if there was a mix up.

  9. I’ve seen a lot of talk about Pinkshinyultrablast and had heard of them over the years so I finally checked them out a while back. I listened to a bit of Miserable Miracles and wasn’t super into it. But, I saw Grandfeathered used at my local shop today and snagged it. Wasn’t expecting much, but I was very pleasantly surprised. Great record. I’ll probably dig into their other stuff now. Maybe give Miracles another shot.

Anyway, I’ve checked out suggestions on this thread for a long time and most of what I like has already been beat to death here, but a band I haven’t seen mentioned is Blankenberge. They’re also Russian. It’s probably been suggested, but they’re great.

Easy album of the year contender.  I do wish the drum crashes, cymbals, etc.

I see where you’re coming from. Personally I think the record sounds close to, if not absolutely perfect. I’m a drummer and I’m sort of nit picky sometimes. The snare sound is killer.

On another note, I do have a thing for packaging and artwork. I can’t wait to see the back and inside the gatefold. The cover is great. I really like how they stuck with the minimal art approach and have the running time on there. Or at least have stuck with that sort of style since You’d prefer..I like when bands have a style and stay with it. It drove me crazy when Hot Water Music stopped using Sinclair for their cover art on some of their newer releases.

  11. Looking for all of the Lords 7”s.

    The Lords:

    -Moral Darkness

    -The House that Lords Built

    - Maximum Louisville split  series w/ Coliseum

    -Split w/ In Tongues

These aren’t terribly hard to find, but I’m hoping to find someone with a couple of these or all of them to buy at once. DM me!
