  1. Awesome thread. The OG poems are tight and Bukowski is always welcome. I also like Jim Carroll, Kenneth Rexroth, Gregory Corso, and Denis Johnson. Here's an original of mine. Glimpse at 6:03: If I'm not up by 6, I don't get my cup of coffee. Three minutes in and I'm already behind. With the first step of the day she starts to analyze the next. With the last step, she learns a lesson to lose sleep over. She folds the laundry with science and purpose. "This is a Wednesday skirt," she says "So it's third from the top in the pile." "This organization is fatal", I think. And I would scream it. Carve it in every tile of the kitchen floor if I only had a chisel and I knew where she kept the hammer.
  2. Sick. You didn't have to shave or has it healed already?
  3. I'm in the market for an electric stage piano. I don't really need a workstation and I can't afford a Nord. Other than that, I don't really have a preference, brand-wise. Max price is around $800. Suggestions? Thanks.
  4. Going Saturday in Orlando. Not stoked for Tall Firs.
  5. Aw man, if I still spent all day every day on a message board, I wouldn't need a supervisor to show me what I missed.

  7. + Going to see Cursive tonight - Got my first ever B on a paper. I wonder if there's any connection between that and the email I intended for my gf but accidentally sent to my Prof, wherein I referred to her as a senile old lady.
  8. Thanks, man. Is Carytown a good place to look for a hotel? If not, what are some other parts of town that would be?
  9. Yo. I'm going on a road trip in May to Charlotte and Richmond with my lady friend. Currently debating on whether to spend 3 days/ 2 nights in Richmond and 2 days/1 night in Charlotte or vice versa. What would you guys suggest? Swaying criteria are shows, veg restaurants, used book stores, sundry coolness, and of course, record stores. Help please! Also, names of specific places to visit in both towns would be helpful. Thanks.
  10. Just lulzzed in the middle of the library. +1 dude.
  11. I haven't checked the youtube videos, but I haven't seen mention of: Four Hundred Years Eulcid Twelve Hour Turn
  12. - Was supposed to get divorced today, but apparently there's some sort of 10 day delay for the judge to get and sign off on the paperwork. Motherfuck. I was hoping I could get something that I could have framed and hung on my wall by this afternoon.
  13. Crossing my fingers for Sonic Youth sans Kim Gordon. I know this may be heresy, but I could never stand that shreeking banshee woman. Her lyrics are the suck, too. In a perfect world, they'd replace her with Kim Deal.
  14. I endorse this. Even though Dave Eggers has lost his touch, it's a pretty striking depiction of what goes on in a good portion of Africa. Not just Uganda.
  15. while i did this a couple times myself, i still give myself credit for the time that i opened up my window to look like i ran away, but hid in my bedroom to hear my mom freak out. what a dick move, ryan... That's good shit.
  16. This reminds me of the time when I was 8 and ran away from home...all the way to my neighbor's bushes so I could watch people look for me.

  18. ++ Working local crew for Radiohead show today. ----- Had to get up at 4:30 in the morning to get to Tampa by 6.
  19. I like Klosterman, but I thought this book would have benefitted by leaving out the shit about his girlfriend. I'm currently reading Siddhartha by Herman Hesse and Synchronicity by CG Jung.
  20. I've seen 2 different setlists so far.. fairly similar, but a few differences: 2/12 in Denver: http://blogs.westword.com/backbeat/2012/02/review_setlist_larimer_lounge.php 2/20 in Oregon: http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/cursive/2012/wow-hall-eugene-or-3bde843c.html Was actually hoping for a few more from the new album... or even a whole album performance. Been digging it that much. I was underwhelmed by the new album. It's good, but the review on AV Club said it "could be a cousin to Domestica rather than a follow-up to Mama, I'm Swollen. I think the latter statement is more accurate. It's a pet-peeve of mine when reviewers reference hallowed albums in reviews. It sets one up for disappointment. My complaint with everything post-Ugly Organ is that they've been too polished. I'm glad to see their setlist covers a bit of Domestica, but am a little baffled at the choice to play The Martyr and not The Casualty.
