After not checking this thread and the HT site for about 4 months holy crap does it give me sticker shock.

Love how they lead up to this by tweeting yesterday about their "HUGE announcement" that would be "One of the biggest this year!" then dropped this.

Haha right. I can't believe I got all worked up for this. Such a disappointment.

My local Hot Topic's once proud selection of vinyl has now dwindled to one 1/2 full milk crate stuck back in the corner of the store. From a glorious four-tiered rack to something shameful. 

I just don't get it :(

Got my confirmation of shipment for the second round release yesterday. Should be here Saturday.

Everything showed up today in great shape.

Anyone know what is going on with records in-store lately? 2 Hot Topics have downsized their record sections and one of them got rid of clearance entirely while putting the bins on the floor by the changing room. The rack where they used to be now holds jewelry.

 

Is the bubble bursting for records?

Mine has been doing the exact same thing. The respectable 4-shelved rack has now become 2 shelves and nothing new has come in for a couple of months. It's depressing.

well since i have 4 kids and a wife who all dig |-/....and my 12 year old daughter who loves vinyl as much as I do, and HAS to get all titles dad gets.. thats why 6..... Also I love having all variants of all my favorite bands. I love blink 182 and have 22 variants of enema of the state.. whats the difference? i was pointing out the vinyl pressings flaws. but i'm happy to answer personal questions since y'all asked.. not ashamed of having 6 of the same LPs in the house if they are legitimately being used. Any other questions??? Or shots at my odd amounts of vinyl?

I went from a Marantz 6100 to a Rega RP1.

I want your Marantz. Would prefer a 6300 but 61 will do. That way it would match my Marantz 2275 amp. 

pretty dumb poll if you ask me. Obviously there are many votes for Rega RP1 and the Pro-Ject because they are well-received and widely popular beginner/intermediate turntables that are not too expensive and you can still enjoy your records. In general asking for "the best turntable" is quite hopeless anyway.

 

Oh well.. I am still using my parents' old Dual turntable from the 70's and it's okay for my needs.

That said, I do love my Dual 1229 tt.

I received 2 red/black split from the |-/ web store preorder, 2 amazon black, and 2 splatter direct from HT. A total of 6 LPs and every single one LP 2 w/ sides C/D are warped. 6 LPs , 3 different versions, all identical issues. Some worse than others. Some unplayable and others just have the tone arm jumping Up and down like mountain ridges in the LP but it plays. Super bum out for such a highly anticipated vinyl release, as well as the cost being $27.99 plus tax and shipping these are averaging $35 per LP and although the packaging is very nice it is all high quality sleeve and inserts, but the LPs are like 110g super thin and flimsy. At this cost 180g should be standard and would have prevented a lot of the warping. Also the sticker mess. My Amazon black copies came with stickers that said limited edition splatter... And the Hot Topic splatters arrived with the sticker not stating any special color inside. So to keep one sealed as a collectors item it's hard because you don't truly know what version is inside. Also my HT copies came in not well packed in a standard cardboard mailer that was over stuffed and corners open exposed because the mailer could not support the weight of the 2x LPs and so 2 corners of the package from hot topic were crushed. Typical HT shipping woes continue year after year order after order. Unfortunately they are sold out so I can't get replacements. I hope what Travis said about more coming online is true so that Hot Topic can fulfill a replacement order soon before the return policy runs out.

All I ever find is lots of Barbara Streisand as well as Herp Alpert and the Tijuana Brass albums.

Eh. I'm of no help here. I'm one of those that is endeared to vinyl by those crackles in the quieter parts of records. If I wanted a 100% clean input I would listen to a CD or MP3.

Started with a cheap, crappy MCS integrated amp from the 80s and a couple of awful pawn shop Sony tower speakers a year or so ago. Records stored on a converted wal-mart bookshelf. Now I'm finally here

Received my order. Got the Mmhmm and Let it snow, baby. Good packaging. Mmhmm looks nice.

Kind of a serious problem with Let it Snow Baby, though. A/B was cut pretty badly. Waaaaay too much material was left on one side of the record so it's pretty badly misshapen. It causes a ton of distortion when playing it. C/D is fine, though. Mmhmm looks fine.

I did e-mail them about this today and I received a surprisingly prompt response (about 10 minutes) from Mike at Gotee that they are out of the office this week for Thanksgiving but will send me out another A/B when they get back. Fair enough. I will be perfectly satisfied as long as the new A/B arrives in a relatively quick fashion and in good shape. I pre-ordered on 8/6/14 so I've been waiting a long time for this and I'm just kind of bummed that I can't even play half of the record.

I'll keep everyone updated on how this plays out.

Got my 10 records today. Two mailers inside a larger box. Everything was in great shape. Came 2-day priority even though I just paid the basic rate. These people are the fucking bomb.

did 70 items at $1192 total including 5 box sets. 

the prices were so good that I don't regret it.

most are scheduled to ship / have shipped other the preorders.

only backordered items were oasis - morning glory and sleater kinney box set

pretty smooth transactions and yeah, although the shipping statuses on the site are screwy - there havent been any mistakes or errors in the boxes or in my email notices. 

good stuff. would do again (not for another year tho)
