People really cared about the footstep feature? It was so broken around here that we've all rejoiced not having to pay attention to it. Are people really gonna quit playing because of a fuckin' system update? Niantic's actions? Like your ass got that chapped over a patch? Come the fuck on.

Uhh, yeah, people actually care about the ability to track pokemon. Without that functionality the foundation of the game is shattered. If it was "so broken that you all rejoiced not having to pay attention to it" then it's obvious you didn't experience the app within the first few days of launch, back whenever the "step" tracking system actually worked wonderfully. It was thrilling to leave the house on foot with phone in hand searching for a poke in the nearby tab and hunting them down with the decreasing steps.

As things stand now there are literally only two ways to play:

    • Wander around on foot hoping to randomly encounter a random pokemon of a random type randomly
    • Find a two or more pokestop location and lure them up while sitting between them, catching any random thing that spawns

And each of those issues contain many smaller problems which complicate the gameplay and design:
Egg distance doesn't track correctly while walking, only registering partial distance traveled by straight lines.
Pokemon spawn timing has been doubled from five seconds to ten seconds, so playing on a skateboard, scooter, bike or any other form of active mobility is no longer possible as it not only won't track egg incubation but also no pokemon will spawn
Catch rates have been altered to increase flee frequency and likelihood of breaking free as well as an increase in defensive animations (jumping, "attacking," etc)
Locations with multiple pokestops (lure hangouts) are having pokestops removed (this particularly devastated my local communities player base, which had been gathering by the hundreds: http://www.sunherald.com/news/local/article93298392.html

Plus a lot of other issues have arisen over the past couple weeks. It'd be silly to say people are revolting because "of a system update" or "Niantic's actions." It's a lot more than that and there is definite cause for frustration. Granted, I've reached my personal stopping point (Kanto Gold Medal) so I would slack off regardless, but Niantic is making me reluctantly do so. Sure, the app isn't un-usable as is but it certainly isn't the game the company intended it to be at release by any means.

  2. Watergun is now effectively as useful as an actual water gun.

edit: actually, there's a lotta changes. Pokemon menu uses a new font for names which is much easier on the eyes. Transfer and Favorite button are now located in a pop-up bubble menu on the bottom right so no more scrolling down to transfer. Also the Pokedex works for me now. And of course the awesome ability to changer character avatar has been implemented so I can take this ugly yellow off.

  3. Yeah if you dudes only know Gen I you're missing out on some really cool pokes. Toxicroak, Milotic, Mismagius, Houndoom, Gardevoir, Shiftry, Chandelure, Wailord, Drifblim, Dusclops, Rhyperior (which makes this list of cool pkmn solely because it SHOOTS GEODUDES OUT OF ITS HANDS LIKE CANNONS).......so many cool pokemon to discover for you guys!

    Dude that's crazy!!

I hit my self-set goal of achieving the 100 Kanto Gold Medal so I may begin to play a little less. It's so insanely hot down here on the gulf coast walking around today!

Someone I know in person thinks the pokemon are sending the ball curving out, and that you can move the ball to the left or right to prevent the curve.  I think this is absolutely bollocks and I think it's entirely the thrower.

No, it 100% does do this. Pretty heavily since the last update for lvl 20+. Not all the time but some rarer pokemon send that shit flying as though they have an anti gravitational field or something. Twirling it until the stars appear and curving it negates this effect though.

  6. Whenever I hit level twenty I absolutely had no choice but to start twirling the balls and throwing curves. It began to neglect my straight shots like seventy percent of the time which is incredibly annoying. Also annoying is that it almost never gives me the bonus whenever I successfully throw curves.

  7. He's not this generation's elliott smith because this generation has no elliott smith. I mean alex is literally my favorite music of the past half decade but even I can't compare him to elliott's impact on music. Although I do also use Elliott has a familiarizing point for material like half of Beach Music since it seems Elliott has been a huge influence on Alex's approach occasionally

I'm not one of the super intense OT/Alex G collectors/fans but I seriously believe Alex is one of, if not the most talented songwriter of the past decade or so.  He writes the best melodies/hooks ever, song after song after song.

This post makes more sense than anything I've ever read with my eyes

Is anyone else getting the bug where you click on a Pokémon in the Pokédex, and it just scrolls down your dex with messed up text? I don't really know how to explain it other than that.

Yeah, a few pages back I spoke of my troubles with transcribing my caught amount per pokemon because of this bug. It's frustrating.

I doubt it, it's not a super popular LP expect among Alex super fans

I don't think this is accurate....Up until DSU, RACE was Alex's most known work, specifically for Gnaw which was his most shared song in the early years. His bandcamp page has over 700 paid supporters listed for RACE and we all know how sought after the /100 cassette has been for the past half decade. Contrastingly, I think that descriptor would be fitting for Winner, which while a truly great album didn't receive the same response from listeners. RACE is just FULL of classic pop songs.
