The venue they're playing in Seattle is pretty damn shitty :)  I also with TA would just do a headlining show here.  I don't think that's happened in the 7+ years I've lived here.

What's the name of this venue so I know to avoid it? lol.  I just realized I can go to shows now! Oklahoma has almost nothing here and when I was in SF, I was jobless and couldn't afford going to anything so Seattle is going to be a nice change

Evening everyone - how's it hanging?

Tonight was the 2nd day in  a row where I had a customer call in a huge order 10 minutes before close, and it was the same person. Had to stay 45 minutes late, and both nights he told me, "You really need to smile, you know." And proceeded to tip me $0.02.

I snapped a picture of his address from the check he paid with and will be dropping off our hours of operation for him.

And maybe a flaming bag of shit.

this is absolutely ridiculous.  It definitely sounds like he's doing it on purpose.  There have been one or two times where I've had to run into a store before close and I've apologized the whole time and was in and out in minutes.

I think some of you are from the Bay area.  My friend and I are visiting our friend going to Berkeley from Feb 19-26.  We already have tickets to Cloud Nothings and Deafheaven/TWDY, but I'm wondering if any of you have recommendations for food/beer/other things to do.  We'll mostly be in Berkeley but will probably head to San Francisco for the day on the 20th and 24th when the shows are.  Thanks!

Sushirrito is great in SF. If you go to the one near the financial district, then there is an iTea across the street and it has amazing boba.

also there are many Super Duper burger places in SF. Get the garlic cheese fries.  I normally don't care for garlic but this is so good.

Last I saw, it was still for Amazon employees only.  It's not too far from my work and I've walked by it.  I'm going to check it out once it's open to the public and the hype has died down a bit.

Super simple and quite enjoyable too!  Train wifi leaves a lot to be desired though, haha.

nice!  I'm really looking forward to checking it out!

These will be free ;) I offered them to Jon and he's taking #6, but 1-5 are yours.

ahhhhh yessssss. thank you!  I'm excited about getting them.  Okay i'll let you know exactly when I'll be in town. There is a big tech conference I want to go to around May but I'm thinking I may visit Portland for a weekend in March.

I can't remember was T-bones the Zombie Lover's handle is anymore, but you gurl, if you want some Hellboy comics hit me up.

i'm interested for sure.  I need to get some paychecks coming in first though.  Also I'm planning on visiting Portland at some point so I'll let you know, maybe a few of us can all hang out?  I want to believe it's a simple train ride from Seattle to Portland but I don't know.

You're moving to Seattle?? Ima come visit you.

Also 14 year old me would have kicked myself in the ass for missing the AFI show last night.

yeah you totally should!  Or I may try and visit Portland. There is a big tech conference I want to attend and if i can grab a ticket then i'll head down around April.

Is the train from Portland to Seattle pretty decent as far as time goes? i love the train.

Yo T, if you want to grab coffee when you come up to look for houses I can drive you around some neighborhoods if you want. I'm still learning the city so it helps me too.

I found it helpful when I was looking for neighborhoods. Buddy took me around.

I have friend who did temp to hire at Microsoft. I'll ask him if he has any pointers of whatever. What is your role?

yeah that sounds fun!  I'll hit you up once i get settled.   And I'm also doing a temp to hire too.  I'm going to try my best to do a good job so I can get offered a permanent spot.  They haven't told me what my role is yet but I think I'm going to be on the engineering team working with Cortana but that's not confirmed yet.  I'd be happy anywhere in the company though just as long as it's a software engineering role.

I'm moving to Seattle in 9 days, so I just finished the relocation process. Hit me up if you have any questions!

thanks!  The problem I had when i moved to SF was not finding a great neighborhood so my goal is to not repeat that again. I'm kind of thinking that looking in person will be a lot better than online browsing so I may just stay at a hotel for a week and then airbnb from a good place afterwards.  but thanks, I'll hit you up if i have any questions.

  10. i may just do an airbnb thing until i find a good place to stay.  the gig is only temporary unless they offer me a permanent spot so i don't want to sign a lease or anything yet.  SF almost killed me with their rent so I'm pretty numb to it now.  At least now I'll have income whereas before I was just slowly losing my savings.

Not sure if Ryan has this problem, but people here will straight up try to grab my arms to look at my tattoos while I am in public. I can appreciate someone being interested and questioning is always gonna happen, but I fucking hate random strangers trying to touch my arms to get a better look. A friend warned me about that before I ever had work done on my arms and I didn't believe him to the extent it really happens.

I was also warned and didn't believe it until it happened.  It's incredibly creepy.

    Are you relocating to Seattle?

yeah. The job is in Redmond but I feel I might find cheaper housing in Seattle. I think the commute is just about 17 min?  I am totally cool with commuting if I can save money on rent and they said we get free transportation so that's awesome too.

I was honestly too shocked and confused to do anything. I had to really rip my arm out of her grip too.

Her response was to violently tap her watch and say "I have somewhere to be!" A good pro tip in life: if you NEED to be somewhere on a Sunday afternoon, don't do something at a grocery store that requires taking a number ticket.

    That's awesome!

    thanks!

i'm so excited!! I'm not sure what team I'll be on. They had interviewed me for the Cortana group which is Microsoft's version of Amazon Alexa and I would be pretty excited for that. They also have a spot on the Bing search engine. They didn't say anything about XBOX but i'd be down for that.    in any case, i can finally just relax for a bit.  being unemployed is one of the worst experiences.

I kinda want to go back to school, but I don't really want to spend money or time doing it. I'm too out of touch with my major to land a job (Cisco Networking), so I'm pretty much stuck in this annoying phone/customer service path forever I feel like. I kinda want to do Radiology,  but 2 years is a long time. Too much to think about this weekend.

i think if you're going down a path you don't like, then you should do whatever you can to change it.  otherwise, 10 years from now you'll wish you had done something sooner. It's not easy. I dip in and out of feeling really depressed about how hard it's been to switch careers but eventually it'll be fine.

I might be taking a trip to Portland and Seattle to see Radiohead in April. :)

oooh if i end up getting this job in Washington, then i wanna go there too!

also I would be pretty shocked if i got the job.  interviewed today and I don't know. i just don't know.  It could have been better.

My goal for this year is to go get new glasses.  I'm starting to get headaches towards the end of the evening and I think it's probably due to too much screen time and eye strain.

I bought my glasses from Felix Gray and they were about $100. The big downside is they don't offer prescription yet but since I'm near sided, it's not a problem.  Charlie has a different brand but I don't remember where he said he got them.

They do make a big difference if you're on the computer a lot.

This has been the longest week ever. I feel a ton better, but fuck is my body week from not eating. Hopefully I improve a lot more tomorrow, since work will suck otherwise. I don't want to watch TV or look a computer screen for a long time.

are your eyes hurting from looking at the screen for too long?  I get really bad migraines if i'm on the computer too long but I bought these cool glasses that help with eye strain.
