  1. Somewhat related, but if they are going to maintain more inventory across multiple labels I'd like to see some filtering or subnavigation options available. I'd also like to see a unique class of "fresh" drop items or a timed tier of items that always populate at the top of the page.

We are working to have subdivisions on our website. When we built this one, it didn't allow for it, but we have someone working on it now as we speak (it'll be split by category - MUSIC, and then sub division - MONDO, DEATH WALTZ, SELECTS, etc.)

  2. I mentiond my gotg in an email about Angela's theme and they shipped Angela's theme, but not gotg...seemed kind of ridiculous IMO.

I'm really sorry you still haven't received your GOTG. I promise it's not intentional. We were intentionally vague about shipping times because we were concerned about the problem we are having, which is that some of the screen printed jackets arrived in less than stellar condition. We had some reprinted and we are going to send the final wave of orders out as soon as they arrive from being scored and glued. I'm sorry you've had to wait so long, but I promise it's not because we forgot!

  3. They just posted this picture on their Instagram showing plenty of copies of GOTG being prepped for the pop-up shop next week, but still haven't shipped mine. That's just aggravating.

Hey man, i'm really sorry if this sent the wrong message. We have a few "damaged" copies of Guardians that we are going to put in the pop up shop... we are waiting on replacement jackets for the ones that we want to send to customers as mint condition. I promise you we aren't sitting on stuff we aren't sending to customers. Please send me a message if you want to discuss further.

  4. Did anyone's Guardians soundtrack have a bad seam split?

My vinyl ripped through the inner black sleeve and then out the spine. It's not awful but it's pretty torn up, and while I normally am not that picky this was a pricey LP in a beautiful jacket so I'm debating looking into replacement...

Send us an e-mail. We can replace your jacket. Might take a few weeks, but we can help you out.

  5. For my own curiosity, could you elaborate on this?

I could see that being the case with totally different art as you potentially need do all the color separations, stroking and other production tasks twice, when can be time-consuming, especially when your artists hands you a shit file. But if you're not burning new plates or screens is there hidden costs I'm not aware of with jacket production?

sure! when it comes to print, there are always minimums. You find it sometimes with screen printing posters, since you have to justify the creation of the screens, but with offset printing it is near impossible to find anyone who doesn't have a print minimum of at least 500. Now, that doesn't mean you can't order 200, or 100, or even 50 from a printer... but you are still paying for 500 - it just goes into your cost per unit. Does that make sense? So even the slightest change to art makes it a new file that carries a new minimum. And new set up fees. It's just never made sense to us to do alternate print for a variant version... except for "Version B" records, of which we typically do a run of 1,000. And for those we usually* do COMPLETELY different art.

  6. Also, Mo, was the Scanners a PO or when does that ship? Kinda excited to see how the blood-splattered variant looks given Mondo's track record on mind-blowing looking colorways.

No, not a Pre Order. I'll get some photos up of it soon. I just didn't have a physical copy of everything to photograph before we dropped them. They are pressed and arriving to us next week. They should begin shipping next week, along with all of the DW stuff.

  7. Hey Mo any ETA on the rest of the GOTG soundtracks being shipped? I know some people have received a shipping notice.

Yeah, definitely. It's going to be a long process as we sold quite a few. We are trying to do it in order, so the people who bought them on our old site are being taken care of first. I don't want to lock us into a firm timeline, but if you ordered in the first two weeks or so, you should be getting shipping notification soon.

  8. I pretty much figured asking you about my 2001 was pointless, but I ended up getting lucky on the variant any way! I always thought the artwork might have a little "Where's Waldo" marking in the artwork, so you'd be able to pick out the variants from the black.

Believe it or not, having slightly different artwork is wildly more expensive than changing disc colors. DeskCop was onto something about the barcodes, except that oddly only happened on the Batman Die-Cut record by accident, and that one was sold by color preference anyway so it didn't matter haha.

  9. I love the new headline of this thread.

I had never realized Spencer was openly advertising Twin Peaks on all of his past releases (just got his backstock in from the UK and saw it for the first time on the Halloween III Deluxe Re-Issue)

Since it's not a reveal, I can assure you Twin Peaks is still happening. It's on the calendar for this year, but I'll let Spencer be the one to give the official announce date when he have that locked.

  10. Got The Visitor today and it was the variant! It's a nice package. Jay Shaw does some great work. I wonder if it was stock still left over from the flat file sale. I remember someone saying the vinyl stock at the sale was mostly variants.

And I'm still blowing holes in my theories on whether or not you can tell it's a variant based on the shrinkwrap. I figured if there was a barcode sticker on the back it was a regular copy ready for retail sale. Nope!

I can tell you with authority there is no way to tell on 95% of the records, from the outside, whether it is a regular or a variant. Trips us up sometimes too... this is an informal apology to anyone I promised a Variant to and accidentally sent a regular :(

  11. Cheers, Mo. You're always a good sport on here. My two cents would be to continue a modest run of black vinyl (if it is financially feasible) for folks interested in maximum AQ. Although I completely understand with releases of this nature that this sort of thing cannot always be the primary concern.

Truthfully, I think the plan will be to put Black vinyl into indie retail more regularly and make the site exclusive for the fun color way stuff. Don't hold me to that, but that seems to be the way to give everyone what they want.

  12. Nice. Thanks for the reply! I think there's been an easy explanation for every high-priced release to date (fancy packaging, etc.) so this one was a little bit of a surprise. I can't imagine the negotiations and accounting that have to go into pricing these things.

Yeah, it's always more complicated than everyone assumes. Working in this industry gives me a ton of respect (that is unfairly not given) to SRC and similar Indies. People are quick to shit on all high price points, but trust me when I say that if possible EVERY label would go cheaper. These are all passion projects, from people who just want to give a fair treatment to their favorite records.

That said, I get it when people are frustrated.

  13. Thanks, Mo. Quick question: It doesn't look like there are any black vinyl versions/randomly inserted variants of this score; will that be the new standard going forward or will it be on a release by release basis?

We're trying something new on this one, and a few targeted releases this year. There will be a few releases that come out this year that were already in production before this new initiative, so don't expect any uniformity any time soon... however, part of the transition of Spencer Hickman coming on as label manager is to address some concerns between both labels and come up with solutions that make both casual fans & collectors happy at the same time.

  14. $30 for 1xLP is kind of a bummer but I'm not interested in this one anyway. I hope it's because it's two separate scores and not the new standard pricing.

Don't worry. This isn't the new standard. We sometimes have to flex pricing based on a variety of criteria. Unfortunately, this record is a little bit more expensive to produce than we'd normally prefer it to be.

  15. Just FYI, I've had one in my cart for 45 minutes, trying to check out. It's not booting anything from my cart.

And I was able to successfully check out with 3 copies of 2001 (not to flip). It just jumps the shipping up for every 1-2 copies in excess of the first 2. Seems conceivable (even if not true today) that someone could buy 10 copies, just paying 5x shipping.

That makes sense. We're still hammering out all of the fine-tuning on our backend for the new site. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

  16. This guy would know: Mondo48Mo,

I'm at FFF right now. Does anyone know if I get 2001 off of their site can I stop by their gallery and physically grab my copy?

We don't have them at the Gallery for pick up. Order one online, and send me an e-mail [email protected], and I can mark it for Gallery pick up. We can have them avail for as early as tomorrow, and we will refund your postage upon pick up
