  1. Haha. Yeah. He was pretty incredible though. I'm pretty sure there was some other drama within the band going on at the same time as well. I saw them 4-5 times live & once it seemed like a couple of the guys were just super pissed at each other & another time they were having sound problems, started arguing & then ended their set about 2 songs into it after yelling at each other for awhile on stage.
  2. I don't think I've ever heard Thergothon. I lived pretty close to Wild Rags & was able to get the Esoteric cds from there & the Mindrot, Morgion demos which I'm sure that dude just continued to make until the store closed. I was in a hardcore band that practiced in the same space as Morgion & Mindrot. One day we were just sitting in our room listening to Mindrot practice. It was like the heaviest, evil, fucking insane drum filled thing that made us sound totally pathetic. It was like they made us realize were just wasting our time so we broke up shortly after that.
  3. I think Come To Grief is their best album. Some of the others definitely meander/drag a bit much at times. I remember this came out when I was 18 & I bought this & EHG's Take As Needed For Pain in the same trip to the record store. Changed my life. Definitely for the worse lol
  4. I don't think the bands I mentioned though actually qualify as having people trying to sing. The dude from Burning Witch literally sounds like he's on fire at times & I think it goes perfectly with the music. But sub-par singing by people trying to actually sing is really hard to stomach and is a pretty quick turn off. Lot of current stoner rock bangs are like this for me.
  5. I like Grief a lot. I think people are either onboard the one-mile an hour tortured vocal slow train like Grief, Corrupted, Burning Witch, Toadliquor, Noothgrush, Monarch, etc. or they aren't. Not enough of them as far as I'm concerned!
  6. Glow in the dark records!? Die cuts sleeves!? What on earth could be next!?! Music pressed on shiny polycarbonate discs!?! IMPOSSIBLE!!!!
  7. If you like metal in the speedy & thrashy variety then Witchtrap's Trap The Witch LP may be right up your alley. The HHR bandcamp page is selling black & red(111 copies). Vinyl has a bonus song not on the CD. Vinyl is $18.99. This was originally released by Dirty Sound Records on CD last year & this is its first pressing on vinyl. https://witchtrap.bandcamp.com/ I really like this song off the album:
  8. The stupid shit people do & say without any anonymity online boggles my mind. In the album release post on The Sword's FB page, this lady posts this: If you click her name, there's a link to the business she owns where she says she serves the people she just referred to as the "world's biggest bitches.": If you're going to refer to people at an army base where there's been multiple mass shootings in the past decade as the "world's biggest bitches" while having them be your clients, shouldn't you at least use a fake name?
  9. Delete yourself Randy for not picking Kraftwerk! Mcdeltat. I know this isn't what you're asking for but your collection looks like it's in dire need of Talking Heads' Remain In Light.
  10. I always feel like these guys do a great job balancing brutality & technicality. I think a lot of bands that play this style of music usually sacrifice one for the other.
  11. Back in college my mom's nickname was "the barbecue". She took a lotta raw dogs if you know what I mean.
  12. Remember that time like two pages ago in this thread when I posted I couldn't wait to hear Lars fuck up the double bass part live? Well he did. Crazy coincidence right!?
  13. Any one else notice Lars' error in the live version of this? Listen to the second round of double bass at the 3 minute mark. It's pretty obvious. First one to name the mistake he makes gets a free cookie!
  14. Maybe you should read who & what I was originally responding to prior to making comments of your own. A previous poster stated the new Metallica song wasn't as good as Battery & Bell Tolls era Metallica. I posted that I didn't find it surprising that a now sober band 33 years older doesn't crank out the same sounding stuff as they did when they were boozin' & druggin' & 20 years old. Assuming that I haven't heard of ZZ Top, The Rolling Stones, Iron Maiden, etc & suggesting I broaden my musical horizons is a bit over the top in my opinion. Thanks for the advice though.
  15. Yeah. You're right man. When anyone talks about great Aerosmith, Rolling Stones or U2 albums, they always reference post 2010 albums. I haven't heard of any of those other bands you mentioned though. My music horizon is very narrow.
  16. I honestly can't think of any bands that have been around for over 33 years & continue to release great music.
  17. Wait a sec. Are you seriously trying to suggest that these sober dudes approaching their mid-fifties don't rock as hard as they did when they were 20 year old drug & booze fueled party animals? Pretty weird man!
  18. That video is great! You don't even want to know what I was doing to get my records opened before I watched it. Let's just say it involved my mom! I'm going to post a video that really helped me get a great understanding of how to collect records. I've only been in "the hobby" for a few months now but I already have 13 records! Lately I've been watching videos on how to select a turntable because that's what I'll be asking for Christmas this year. I can't wait to start spinning these things! Here's the "How To Start A Vinyl Record Collection" video:
  19. Song was surprisingly good & I'm really looking forward to seeing videos of Lars fucking up the double bass part at the end when playing this song live.
