  1. So out of the people who received their copies...has anyone noticed any issues with the overall sound quality of Head Trip? Mine sounds like total dog crud. Did i get a bad copy? Is it the clear vinyl not pressed well? I swear mine sounds distorted and and horrible like a bad quality MP3. Been spinning vinyl all night and not noticing the same issue with other records. Haven't given Jokers a fair shot yet, but i expect that to sound poor being cassette sourced.
  2. Thanks for the post. Thought it was only black release, but in for a starburst as well. I'll likely pick up a black version down the line. I hope they tour this record. Epic Ditch never made it north of the Mason Dixon afaik.
  3. That's a great little single! I love the Minor Threat tribute on the cover. I keep meaning to pick up a reissue to pair with the Sloan disc.
  4. That's the reason i think of them as a Canadian version of The Beatles, but without the 1960s to push them to megastardom. Such a talented group of guys. Their keyboard player has gotten more involved on this record it appears. Pretty sure he doesn't sing, but good to get a worthy 5th mind to lend a hand. I'm going to try to not listen to any previews until September aside from the downloadable track. Also...if anyone has the pink bootleg and wants to get rid of it, lmk.
  5. Hey all. Yep Roc is taking preorders on the forthcoming new Sloan double album "Commonwealth". Looks like it'll be another quality release. Each of the 4 sides is dedicated to each band member's song(s). It can be ordered here: http://yeproc.11spot.com/sloan-commonwealth-pre-order-9-09.html You can get the LP by itself or as a bundle with a signed art print and custom deck of cards.
  6. I'm in. I always support a Jersey band.
  7. Why does it have to have value? Can't something just bee cool to own and listen to? Sorry, but i open and play every record. If it ends up valuable, cool. If not, it still sounds cool. Instead of throwing it in the trash you could have traded it to someone.
  8. Not sure how many noticed, but Sideonedummy is taking preorders on the reissue of "Headtrip in Every Key" (never before in vinyl)(1500 copies, clear vinyl) and the new LP of demos called "Jokers W/ Tracers" (500 copies, black vinyl). $23 each and discounted in a bundle. I ordered both this AM.
  9. That Joan As Police Woman is badass! I've been in love with her since the first time i met her opening for Weezer many years back. Her name graces my signed vinyl as well. So, i don't have much of a signed collection, but the ones we have are pretty decent IMO. Check em out! Soundgarden signed by Chris Cornell The Lees Of Memory signed by everyone. Signed Billy Preston Signed by Joey Molland of Badfinger Signed by all of Sloan Personalized Dramarama singles signed by Mark "Mr. E Boy" Englert. Signed by The Dambuilders.
  10. Nice pick! I stumbled on a mint copy of Your Majesty on Tuesday that i picked up. I went through every bin hoping for DANB, but none to be had. Shopkeep suggested some rareish Portugal The Man disc, but i still have never heard them so i passed. (found at Randy Now's Man Cave if anyone's in the SJ/Philly area)
  11. I have to second this. I ordered a 7" and an LP from them. I was directed to them BY the artist who said Alex had them in stock. Over a month went by with no package, tracking#, shipping confirmation, etc. ZERO replies to my emails. The ONLY time i ever got any replies from this guy was after filing a Paypal claim and filing a formal dispute. The website has not been updated since 2012. Almost everything listed there is out of stock. Alex even mentioned in his emails (the ones via paypal) that my items were not in stock. I think he actually had to go out and buy copies from somewhere because one of the items came to me with an Amoeba price sticker on it. Also..he NEVER responded to any of Paypal's inquiries at all. I did cancel the dispute afters finally getting the records (in good shape). Just don't bother ordering from him because it appears the label is kaput. You're lucky to have gotten any communication from that dude. While not a thief, he is a poor businessman.
  12. Just thought i would add to this list. Seems that NJ has not received any attention aside from the usual suspects like Vintage Vinyl and PREX. I thought i would add some small, but arguably better locations down south Jersey within an hour or less of Philly. Randy Now's Man Cave 134 farnsworth ave bordertown, NJ 08505 Randy's is a newer shop that as of yet i have not visited, but have heard good things. I checked out his booth at the Trenton Punk Rock Flea Market and he had great selections at appropriate prices. They also sell some books and have a soda club and live shows. I'll have to report back when i stop in, but seems promising. The Record Collector 358 Farnsworth Ave Bordentown, NJ 08505 This shop i've visited a few times since moving down this way. They have a ton of decent vinyl at oddly fair prices. Some stuff priced higher than they should, but some priced lower than they should. I grabbed a near mint first issue of Devo's "New Traditionalists" with all inserts and 7" for maybe $10-12. To me that's a good deal. Shop owner is pretty decent and they have shows there at night. The Record Museum 110 Cushman Ave W. Berlin, NJ 08091 This is a very new store as well. It's located in the loft above a carpet store and so is a bit tough to locate the first time. Once there, it's a very nice shop. 80% of their stock is used at pretty fair prices. All the good stuff is on display or sold through their Discogs shop. They have a crazy amount of 7" stock if you need a jukebox to stuff. They do get some new stock, but in my personal opinion it is higher prices than they should be. That said, my last visit i spent about $20 and left with a bagful of VG+ to NM stuff. My favorite aspect was that i shopped for 3 hours and was left to browse through everything without interruption. To me, that's how i want to shop for records. Also, there's a small chain of Tunes stores down in Burlington County that sell new and used vinyl. They do not stock much of anything, but the two i've been to have had some decent used stuff. Grabbed a copy of Beastie Boys "In Sound From Way Out" and Jeremy Enigk "Return of the Frog Queen" extremely cheap and way way below market value. They do RSD and had almost all the same stuff Vintage Vinyl had at slightly higher prices. It's not a "destination" kind of shop, but good if you have time and are nearby.
  13. They sell them at shows. If you can get to one, you can grab one there. Forget how much it was, but it wasn't terribly expensive.
  14. If you find one, please msg me. Yes. Exactly the reason i don't own one. I slept on the Wasted Days/Bed is a Boat preorder, so when i saw Wasted in the merch i grabbed it. They also had the colored variant, but i'm a black vinyl kind of guy.
  15. You're doing a damn find job. I have one or three of yours myself. So, my 2 cents in this mess? I have been a Dramarama fan for as long as i can recall. I have everything they put out on vinyl (aside from a couple 7" releases). I am noticing huge voids in their vinyl catalog. They have never released "Everybody Dies", "Hi Fi Sci Fi", and "Vinyl" on vinyl. How do you not release Vinyl on vinyl?? There's so much material from the sessions for these three albums that they all justify deluxe reissues. So those three have never seen a vinyl issue, and all the other albums have been out of print on vinyl since their initial releases give or take a couple years.
  16. They were selling the 2xLP and lyric book at their show this Saturday at the brewery. They had no EP vinyl, but were selling Wasted Days, Dave Hillyard's newest, and Crazy Baldhead's "Boots Embraces". I grabbed Wasted Days and Boots and an Urban Pirate 7". The more i hear Wasted Days, the more i love it. I wish they would do a good reissue of The Question.
  17. Real name: John Favorite Bands: It would be easier to list the bands i hate than the ones i love, but a few that are never far from the turntable recently? The Slackers, The Minus 5, Sloan, Dramarama, Zappa, Ween and such. I'm heavily into east coast reggae/ska/rocksteady, power-pop, grunge era indie rock, and a bit of country music and classic rock. What's your Facebook/Twitter/Tumblr etc.?: Twitter/Instagram are both @fineexampl Hobbies (outside of record collecting): Drugs. Lots of them. Yes, seriously. Cooking, capsaicin, weird food, beer. Play in a band? Run a record label? Link us!: No, not unless my kid's singing improves. Random things you want us to know about you: Married father of one with a vinyl problem. I work in pharmacy, wife is an OT, 2yo daughter puts a finger in her nose and sings songs from Frozen. It's like i'm living the dream. I'll probably lurk for a while, but i had to join after reading 6 pages of thread where some bozo's TT wouldn't play the B-side. Still, if you get the urge, i post tons of vinyl related bullshit on my IG feed. If you like my pics, follow. If not, then eat rocks. It's all good.
