My handpour should be in my hands by the end of the day today and I'm super stoked about it!
Did you get a shipping confirmation? Nothing for me yet.

Just noticed this hadn’t been posted, surprisingly.
OMAM is on the last (#5/5) limited edition version of their upcoming album.
Each is /500 with an exclusive cover and color, and a litho of the cover signed by the band. These have been selling out within about 12 hours.
The last one went up this morning, in yellow. $35 plus annoying $10 minimum shipping (UPS only).

Standard black also available from their shop, though likely cheaper elsewhere.

Must’ve just snuck my order in. Got all three OBI with a 10:13am ET confirmation e-mail.

So with the Racs going #1, does anyone here know how the “every ticket includes a copy of the album” business factors into that? Obviously they aren’t the only ones to do this, but do those copies juice sales numbers?
Presumably thousands of copies were “sold” with tickets for the tour, with it being a duplicate copy for many ticket buyers (I personally have four copies of this album across Vault, Rough Trade and tickets).
Just curious.

So weird that she’d drop this after the album is ready to go and tour on sale. Very skeptical that this is the full story, as it would be supremely shitty of her to leave the band scrambling for a replacement and fans without a key part of SK for a tour with tickets already sold just because of the “new” direction (which presumably would have been apparent since they started writing and recording this record many months ago). There has to be a “better” reason she didn’t want to see out the tour.

I was at Rough Trade and Babys for the RRS. Got a test press promo copy of Hey Gyp, De Stijl 2010 Repress on Red/White half and half (pretty rare) and the Cass Corridore Stooges S/T on Yellow with the screen printed cover at RT and White Stripes S/t on Red/White half and half (also very rare), 2009 Single series, and the Racontwoers live at third man on blue black split at Babys. I would say it was 100% worth it for those exclusives alone. The RRS swag is pretty cool too (grabbed a slipmat).
I stand corrected! They were not promoting any of that on truck signage, so I had no idea. Obviously paid off to stand in line and ask.

They were giving out the preview 12" at the NYC Lincoln Square screening tonight. Maybe 50-75 copies. Missed it by about 5 people.

Two copies. Both yellow. 😕
Offer to trade one for a U.K. copy still stands!

Anyone ever go to the rolling record store? Is it worth it?
tldr: Unless they have announced that they will have an exclusive release (for which you will have to arrive early) or you care about truck-themed merch, it’s not worth going out of your way.
I’ve been three times, all in NYC.
First was early days, for the Colbert single release. Got the tri-color and some exclusive truck-themed merch (exciting at the time).
Second was for the Public Nuisance triple-deckers.
Third was last week at Rough Trade. They didn’t seem to have any exclusives (nothing hyped on social media or truck signage, though possible they quietly had something that sold out). Probably why lines weren’t crazy. Swank mentioned before the show that they were selling a new Racs shirt, but think it was just the Classic “R” shirt they are also selling online. No other notable Racs stuff on the menu. Webstore is much better stocked for that.

it appears there will be 1,400 non-EXPOSED ORANGE CLOTH SPINE AND ORANGE GILT EDGING AND FINISHED WITH BODONIAN BINDING-book version copies around when all is said and done.
Think it’s 1400 for the US. No word yet on total pressing.

Huh. Seems a bit anachronistic for an active band to put out a greatest hits collection in this day & age, especially for a band with such a big, consistent catalog like Spoon. And you're never going to make everyone happy with just 12 tracks - no Written in Reverse? The Beast and Dragon Adored? Sister Jack?
Agree, it’s a bit weird. But I’ll take a new song and 7” any day. Won’t be buying the comp.
Excerpt from Britt’s email announcement:
We’d been considering the idea of this record for a while, years, thinking about our experiences with our own favorite hits records, and last year we decided to finally get after it. Was it an easy task pairing down our recorded output to the confines of one disc? No. Have some ungrateful friends, insiders & journalists already lodged complaints that their favorite Spoon song did not make the cut? Yes. Would Kelly Conaboy agree with you that “Metal Detektor” should be on there? Possibly. But we had to narrow this shit down somehow. After a couple weeks of late nights, listening to each album in its entirety & mulling over what constitutes a “hit,” the best thing seemed to be to pick our favorite songs to play and our favorite moments on record, then arrange them to give a flow & identity to this record itself.

Just looked back and the /1000 gold pressing of “Teeth Dreams” was $25, same as the black. That was a double LP. It can currently be bought on Discogs for that price new, or less used.
This $10 premium on a single LP with no stated pressing number is simply insulting. I’ll wait for it to be half price on Discogs.

A new “best of” compilation from Spoon, including a new single called “No Bullets Spent” (also available on separate 7”, thankfully, with the old track “Shake It Off” as the b-side).
Available to preorder from Matador and the band’s store. Matador has better prices and shipping rates.

i still never got my guitar string
Shitty. For that, you might try contacting Port Merch (again?) since they are now selling the boxes directly and list them as including the string (https://stores.portmerch.com/josegonzalez/featured-products/string-theory-box-set.html), so perhaps have extras. They also sent out the initial batch, so should have your order record.

After much chasing and three shipments, I have finally received the last of my PledgeMusic items. I got help from Jose’s EU management.
If anyone else is still waiting on items, PM me and I’ll send you the contact info.

we tried! i literally hand packed every single one of these on thursday night for the show on saturday.
the rest of the pressing should be shipping ahead of release date too
That’s a feat! Any leftovers of the white pressing or the Raptors crossover shirt that might find their way online?
-
If anyone going to one of the Toronto shows wants to snag me a Raptors crossover shirt in XXL, I’ll cover cost/shipping/a beer.

And even better, there's a Green tour variant of Familiar Drugs, limited to 250 total (40 per night)
First come (and hopefully only one per person), or random?

Nice. Dedication! 🤑
I missed the red and then checked each, holding out for the obvious pink variant that never came. Ending up with yellow is not so bad and probably what I would’ve picked from the other four given the choice. Doing a black one was dumb.
