I use the 5mm sleeves and they are still too small for these reissues, anyone have a good rec for sleeves that aren't the box set sleeves?

    This line: http://www.bagsunlimited.com/category/958/180-gram-record-supplies

Don’t get why they market them for 180g releases (standard sleeves usually work fine), but they’re great for larger releases that aren’t box sets. I personally use the polyethylene  ones with resealable flap.

Unrelated but something that’s been bugging me: all of these reissues are showing up in the stiff sleeves that you typically see with picture discs, right?  (I own very few if any picture discs these days, so bear with me.)  Or are they a different material?  Just trying to make sure there’s no potential for them to “outgas” the vinyl inside or surrounding records.

Yes, the outer sleeves are PVC. I always replace these for pic discs, but recently checked some of my other PVC’d LPs and there is definitely an odor and some chemical interaction with neighboring poly sleeves (they get kind of rippled). Records seemed fine, but long term, I don’t like it. I’m now storing printed PVC sleeves separately and just trashing generic ones (like these).

FYI I found the stickers peel off very easily to transfer (though be careful of course).

    Yes, they ALL “outgas.”

The gas goes right through paper and cardboard, and will damage the playing surface of the record over time.

The gas even goes through poly lined inner sleeves, but slower.

I had a “new” Simply Vinyl album that had this damage, and there is no correcting it. 😣

    Just don’t use them.

I only keep them when they are printed (only example I can think of other than this is Mars Volta), but will have to store them separately I guess. Thanks. Agree they are a bad choice.

I INSTANTLY removed mine, and replaced it with a polysleeve from BU as soon as I opened it.

They REALLY should stop packaging records in these things. 😱

I know they’re annoying for many reasons, but is there any evidence they are actually harmful if not in direct contact with the record (e.g. most picture discs)?

here's a somewhat related question, what are the best options for outer sleeves to fit tri-gatefold jackets like this 3xLP deluxe?

Haven’t sleeved mine yet, but I usually use sleeves from this line for something like this:

Note that calling them 180g sleeves is a bit unhelpful, since standard 180g releases fit fine in normal sleeves. But these are good for anything smaller than a boxset that requires some extra room.

  6. 3LP and Cherry Tree exclusive came in today. Few notes:

    - 3LP includes a poster that the CT version does not

    - The brush stroke detail on the jacket is embossed and glossy on the CT version, but not the 3LP

    - F-side etching on the 3LP is boring

    - Download codes aren't active until Friday and do not include the score :(

    - CT colors are duller than the mockup:

i received an order confirmation email back in march for the CT exclusive variant, but just now when i logged in to my CT account, i don't see that under My Orders. I'm a little bit concerned. I'm gonna email CT.

I had the same situation because I had forgotten to renew my membership. It expired in early April. After I renewed, the order reappeared. Also, I think they take payment when you order, so you should be fine even if you don’t renew (assuming you’re in the same situation I was).

  8. Great show last night and just randomly ran into the band in the lobby of my midtown office building (also home to Sirius, which is what I suspect they were there for). Always nice when the universe smiles on you like that!

Seeing the film also made me glad I bought the deluxe with the score. Will be nice to have those different arrangements.
