segal-train replied to youspinmeround's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
picked up a copy from my local store today. completely different sound - in terms of modern comparrisons first album was ty segall band and this album is more like wand. more psych less punk. really really good stuff. -

love meatbodies, love the new songs and love in the red. easy buy for me although probably missed out on the colours. great album; they released a few really good detroit rockers at the end of the year too. Tyvek, Danny & The Darleans and the Intended were all A+++++ -

album rips - kind of falls in between twins and manipulator maybe? probably most hard rocking since slaughterhouse. -

The final paragraph of the press release says "Ty Segall keeps you guessing, bracing your skin with a welcome astringency, seeking to stem the bleeding with chunks and splashes of guitar, tight beats, audio-verite toilet smashes, a Wurlitzer electric piano in a jam, blazing harmonies, and LOTS of songs to sing." So I am guessing this is Albini -

Press Release: Nice to see Mikal, Mootheart and Emmett back. Looks like Ben Boye will be playing keyboard - he in on the last couple Ryley Walker albums. -

New SELF-TITLED album being released January 27th on Drag City as per NPR: http://www.npr.org/sections/allsongs/2016/11/15/502037276/ty-segall-announces-new-album-shares-orange-color-queen?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=nprmusic&utm_term=music&utm_content=2042 First song is the largely acoustic Orange Color Queen. Some of you may remember it from the Ty/Cory Hanson acoustic pickathon video. REALLY looking forward to this album! Toned-down Ty is best Ty. -
The original Flightless variant sold out almost immediately for Nonagon, but the second variant lasted quite a while (I ordered mine AT LEAST a week, maybe two after they were put up). I think a few new variants came out of nowhere with it as well. I think we are past the point of really worry about King Gizz variants - kind of like an Oh Sees thing at this point.

http://kinggizzardandthelizardwizard.com/ ATO (US) copy is a bright yellow. Flightless store seems to be down for the time being - so expect that up soon. Apparently first of 5 albums this year. First song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-i1XZc8ZwA Statement from Eric: Earlier this year we started experimenting with a custom microtonal guitar our friend Zak made for Stu [Mackenzie]. The guitar was modified to play in 24-TET tuning and could only be played with other microtonal instruments. We ended up giving everyone a budget of $200 to buy instruments and turn them microtonal. The record features the modified electric guitars, basses, keyboards and harmonica as well as a turkish horn called a Zurna.

I really get the feeling this is delayed - take the stream while you can, you won't be disappointed. -

http://www.npr.org/2016/11/10/500998666/first-listen-thee-oh-sees-an-odd-entrances Album is streaming - sounds great. Definitely the most psychy thing from them in a while. And at only 30 minutes it is a nice and quick listen. -

This might be my favourite album of the year. I just love how easygoing and for lack of a better term how free it sounds. The track "Goodbye" is one of the best instrumentals I have ever heard. Just loving everything about the album. Probably my favourite of the trilogy.

That description really has me excited. Can't really think of an album that would be considered 'hushed' besides maybe Castlemania, but even that was pretty chaotic. -

The Rac. live set is really tempting. They are my favourite non White Stripes Jack material and have missed all their vaults so far. Pretty solid set on the LP as well.- 4,699 replies

I feel like Cold Hot Plumbs is super underrated, and is one of the best releases from Dwyer. I think I like bloody igloo the most, but gal castle face is probably the one I will wear the most. Probably will grab one of each. -

Damaged Bug single along with really cool Tarot Card set up for pre-order. 35 USD which is probably a bit much for me to spend, but it is super cool so I might go for it. They also finally have some shirts up for sale. -
