  1. I've actually forgotten which variants I ordered now, lol. Oh well, I'm sure I'll get an email if and when they ship.
  2. Still thinking about doing my own press. 10 years ago or so I owned a media company called Mr Wolf Productions, so it would most likely be under that label. 500 copies. Probably clear vinyl with another colour marbled through. Individually numbered. Pressed at GZ. Problem is, there are so many different pressings now, could I even sell 500? Even if I ordered now, they wouldn't be available until April-ish.
  3. Nup didn’t work. I changed the country to UK, which then had the correct shipping cost, then back to Australia, and it’s still 100 bucks. Tried refreshing etc.... no good.
  4. I'm actually considering doing a pressing and donating the proceeds to charity, inspired by that Kickstarter. What charity, I have no idea. One that doesn't get a lot of publicity. Maybe something to do with animals. I reckon it would be a fun and worthwhile exercise. But how to make it different from the other gazillion pressings out there? Maybe make it...... black!
  5. Yeah was about to order the VC until I saw the $100 shipping to Australia and nearly choked on my coffee. I wanna wait for it to be updated before ordering but I don’t want to miss out!! Gahhh
  6. I was cataloging my entire beastie boys collection on Discogs a few months ago, and I was stunned to discover that it wasn’t the old records, the 80s rarities, that were worth the most, but TT5B and Hot Sauce. Couldn’t believe it.
  7. New to vinyl? No. I am 36, and started buying records in 2002. A great majority of them shipped from overseas simply as the selection is so much greater, and usually it is still cheaper than buying locally. And I mean it when I say it.. out of the hundreds I have bought, less than 10 have arrived damaged. I received 3 records just on friday from Amazon US, all perfect. Coincidentally, one of them was a regular US pressing of Villains... it is dead flat and sounds better than the deluxe -go figure. As for the record not flat comment... is it too much to expect that when I play a record, the tonearm doesn't visibly and quite substantially move up and down with each rotation? Especially for something pressed at Pallas, which is regarded as one of the better pressing plants. Records should be flat man. Of course they aren't DEAD flat, but I shouldn't be seeing the tonearm move so much. This is why I find that 180g pressings aren't always better... lighter pressings seem to suffer from less defects in this regard. Matador were more than happy to take my money and ship overseas but tell me to fuck off when it's on their dime... Had they packed it properly there would have been no damage. Or, like I said, just say no from the outset, not offer a replacement to some people and not others, simply because it will cost them more.
  8. Had a pretty shitty experience with Matador and the QOTSA Villains deluxe vinyl. One night after a few drinks I discovered that Villains was being released as a deluxe package and I thought shit, I gotta get that before it sells out. So I browsed a few sites which were all sold out and then I discovered it was still for sale direct from Matador so I jumped on it. Cost me a total of $94AUD to get it shipped. It arrives and I give the record a spin and the record isn't completely flat.. it's ever so slightly warped. Still plays fine. But then I notice the cover has been bent in transit, so there are some decent crease and bend marks on it. I email Matador with photos and they reply 'we will mail you a new cover'. 5 minutes later they email again, saying 'didn't realise you are in Australia. It would cost us $20 just to mail that cover. We tell customers just to buy locally if they are worried about cosmetic damage, damage like that is unavoidable with international shipping'. Bullshit. I have bought hundreds and hundreds of records from overseas, and I could almost count on one hand the number that were damaged in shipping. Maybe 6 or 7. So now I'm stuck with a damaged and slightly warped Villains deluxe record. Pretty shitty. The final kicker was that last week I DID discover it for sale locally, for $54. A full $40 cheaper than what I paid. God damn it.
  9. Well the Flightless limited pressing of Sketches of Brunswick East sold out in 20 mins.... I hope I'm online at the right time to grab a good copy.
  10. By the way, what's the VMP pressing like? The original press is reaaaaaally good. I find it hard to believe it could live up to the OG.
  11. My black copy arrived today. But I am only about 500 miles from the Flightless office. Haven't listened to the album yet, gotta wait for a day when my 2 year old is at daycare. I don't even dare take the cover off my turntable when he is around.
  12. Big beastie boys collector here. The original Paul’s Boutique 8 panel gatefold press is still the best, but it’s a very quiet album as the whole album is crammed on to one record. I haven’t spun the new remaster for a while but I remember it being a bit louder, which in this case is a good thing.
