record stores in Atlanta?
baseballhotdog replied to wakeupandlive's topic in Everything Else Message Board
Jay Reatard is doing an instore at Criminal today @ 4:30. Also, this weekend, they are giving away ADULT SWIM bags and CD samplers w/purchase; http://www.adultswim.com/presents/stimuluspackage/ Looks like they are also doing this at Permanent Records (Chicago) Sonic Boom (Seattle) Jackpot Records (Portland) & Sound Fix (Brooklyn) Pretty cool. I'm going to try to stop by the store this weekend. -
From Side One Dummy; Chuck Ragan - The Daytrotter Sessions 10" (Yellow) ...actually looks more like orange.. plus they threw in a Revival Tour 2CD that I already bought from VC.

I was really excited about seeing this, and I watched it earlier this week. Well, I watched about 30 minutes of it. I couldn't watch anymore of it. Very amateur production...terrible acting....trying to follow the "plot".....I just didn't get it. Maybe I wasn't in the right mood or maybe I bailed on it too early, but I couldn't watch anymore. If I hear from more people that it is good, then maybe I'll give it another chance, but like I said earlier, I was really excited about seeing it because I had heard such good things. Sigh. -

I just got my download code for this emailed to me! Can't wait to d/l and listen! -
This post doesn't belong in the Vinyl section... but, yes, they are a good band. Pete is playing solo here in Gainesville Friday night on a bill with Devon from The Takers. Should be a good time! Pete is also playing in ATL on Tuesday with Micah from Two Cow Garage. He's playing with guys that are in Suburban Home bands!

record stores in Atlanta?

I was Atlanta back in October and I went to Criminal Records for the first time. Great record shop! Their new and used vinyl selection is outstanding. You should also hit Wax N Facts, since it's right around the corner from Criminal. That was the place I always stopped in for vinyl when I visited Atlanta years ago, but Criminal blows them away. Coincidentally, looks like I'm going to be in Atlanta this weekend, too. A band I haven't seen in a loooong time is playing....Slobberbone. You aren't going to Atlanta for the SEC Championship game, are you? -

Even though they are from Gainesville, I've never seen them. I always seem to miss their shows. Really need to check them out. -
PO: DRAG THE RIVER/CHRIS WOLLARD SHIP THIEVES 7"
baseballhotdog replied to a topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
A couple of weeks ago at The Revival Tour in Gainesville at Common Grounds, I was sitting on the stage chatting with Jon Snodgrass. They had just thrown everyone out, so the place was nearly empty. Chris Wollard comes over and picks up Chuck Ragan's guitar and he starts playing DTR's " A Way With Women". Jon joins him singing harmony. That was pretty awesome! After they finish, Jon asks him why he chose that DTR song to cover and Chris says something like "It wasn't an obvious Drag song to cover". Anyway, I'm ordering this and am looking forward to hearing the recorded version. -

True, but the only time the Rays went to the World Series (last year), they were beaten by the Phillies. shooot, is anybody an admitted Phillies fan here? Tigers for life. -
