Best/Worst Customer Service from a Distro/Label?
emacs replied to silentgods's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
Shout out to Speedpig and Solid 7 Records for being cool after I screwed up and ordered a tape from the UK instead of US. They've got some cool music if you're into stoner and doom, definitely recommend checking them out. -
guitarist says "all lives matter" when talking about police brutality, probably not intended to be racist but it's pretty easy to see how it could be construed that way someone from the crowd says that's racist/dismissive of police targeting black people, a reasonable criticism guitarist punches them, definitely not a reasonable response turns out they were trans, people start calling guitarist transphobic, also unreasonable, since the guitarist wasn't aware of it when he threw the punch

Whoops, maybe I shoulda waited and bought one from them, could've saved on shipping. Oh well.

Man I really can't agree with that. I support Bernie because of his policies and ideals, not because of his party association. Hillary is so much more centrist than Bernie it's amazing to me that they're both running for the same ticket. This really plays into the trap of the two party system we have now, where people won't vote for a third party because they see it as a wasted vote, and those that do vote for a third party will basically have a wasted vote because of all of those who were afraid to vote. I'd personally much rather vote for someone like Jill Stein than Clinton, or hell even write in Sanders because voting for either Hillary or a GOP candidate would be against my political beliefs. For me, Hillary's policies are closer to the GOP's than they are to Bernie's, and it wouldn't make that much difference whether a republican or Clinton win at that point.

Stoner/ Doom Metal Discussion Thread

I like Down but they're definitely overrated. I think Phil is the weakest link in the group, watching their 2013 Hellfest set with Kate Richardson singing on an Eyehategod cover and Kirk Windstein singing on a Crowbar cover was better than Phil singing the rest of the set, even when Kate came in too early and Kirk being out of tune. -

Maybe I'm spoiled from getting the amazing HoF record for $9, but I don't think I'm willing to pay $30 to preorder this, especially after hearing their new song. It's kinda boring, and I think I'm gonna pass if the rest of the record is like it. Maybe they'll put out a new single and I'll change my mind, but I'm not feeling this one (and this is coming from someone who likes Warp Riders more than the rest of their discography). On an unrelated note, I saw Melvins perform an excellent set in NYC two nights ago and picked up a tour exclusive 10" split with Le Butcherettes, which sounds great and is on pretty red with black and white splatter vinyl. In between the Le Butcherettes and Melvins sets, voidmanes played about 15 minutes of harsh noise, which seemed to split the crowd into two camps, one who were moshing and loving it, and one who booed and chanted "Melvins" until they got pushed around by the moshers. I didn't really dig the music but the little war in the audience was entertaining. -
PO: High on Fire - Luminiferous

Got mine on starburst today. Looks and sounds fantastic. The label on the C side of my record is a bit fucked but it sounds fine. For nine bucks I can't complain. Super glad I jumped on the preorder, I've only listened to it a few times but it's probably one of my favorite records in my collection.- 120 replies

Another Warp Riders fan checking in. Have to agree on the show as well, when I saw them a couple years ago they sounded great but lacked energy (although Kyle seemed really into it in the beginning, to his credit).

Seems like it comes out around August 14th. I'm seeing them live on the 12th so hopefully they'll have some copies with them I can pick up. -

Saw the same show in Baltimore two nights ago, really enjoyed it. Graveyard's sound was good but the crowd was pretty disinterested. Mastodon went on before Clutch, and put on a surprisingly good show. It was my third time seeing them and the first time I'd seen them interact with the crowd, Brent and Troy (and Bill to a lesser extent) were moving around the stage a lot, and Brann talked to the crowd throughout the show in addition to his usual monologue at the end. Clutch were great as always and announced that their next record would be out in September, and played a few songs from it. Unfortunately Mastodon didn't play Blood and Thunder with Neil like I'd hoped, but Bill did come out and play Texan Book of the Dead with Clutch.
