  1. And with art, we all interpret it in different ways. On this occasion, I personally find what I have been sent to be unacceptable based upon what was originally advertised to me... We all have our opinion on it, but it doesn't make me, you or anyone else right or wrong, and just because others have differing thoughts to me, I'm not going to start being abusive to them and calling them names. I apologise to everyone if it was annoying for me to ask a question such as this, but as you can see i'm pretty new to the forum so obviously I had no idea that this had been brought up previously, and, if it was really that annoying for you, why did you take so much time to reply over and over again? If I read something that I've already discussed a hundred times and am sick of, I tend to hit the next button and move on. Anyway, enjoy the rest of your day everyone and sorry again if I (unintentionally) p*ssed any of you off.
  2. So what you're basically saying is that if an item (whatever it may be) is marked / coloured etc. differently to what was advertised at the time of purchase, that is OK? Personally, I don't find that acceptable, but hey that's just my opinion. Obviously how the record plays is most important, but I do still care a lot about how my vinyl collection looks... Again, that's just my opinion. If you don't agree and have a different outlook on things, that's cool, but there's no need for everyone to jump down my throat because I simply asked a question and gave my thoughts!
  3. What is with everyone here? I can't ask a simple question about whether anyone else had damage and marking to their records without being bombarded with sarcasm and interrogation?!
  4. Fair enough, personal preference obviously, but if I've paid X amount for something that I worked hard to buy, I have a limit of what I can write off as an acceptable amount of damage and defects.
  5. I have never had serious markings on any coloured records that i've purchased. I can accept a small blemish here and there, but these are dark black lines inches long.
  6. If you purchased a white record (or any other colour) and it had several large marks on it that were clearly not meant to be there, you wouldn't ask for a replacement?
  7. Sure, I'll try and upload one later if I have the chance. Not sure how you can help me though (unless you work for the store I purchased it from!)?!
  8. They are completely straight black lines, as though someone has taken a permanent marker and a ruler to the records. If they are meant to be there then Deafheaven need to shoot the pressing plant and designers!
  9. What am I talking about? I purchased a double vinyl that is damaged and also slightly disappointing in it's colouring... Perhaps I am alone in thinking that I'd prefer that not to be the case?!
  10. Sorry for having an opinion and not wanting random black marks all over a record I paid good money for.
  11. Hey, thanks for the pics... The pink 'marbling' (if you can call it that) is hardly there - on maybe two or three small areas you can just about see it, but other than that there are a few random dark pink marks and some black marks too, with one long (about 4 inch) dark black line. Other than that, it's just two white records, with a slight pink tint. Not too happy with the product if I am honest!
  12. Got my copy of this... Very nicely packaged. Haven't had time to give it a spin yet, but if it sounds as good as it looks, I will be happy!
  13. Picked this up cheap on the Columbia/Legacy pressing. Very nice sounds.
  14. Love the album. I find her voice and style so unique and exhilarating. Definitely recommended!
  15. Finally back from my travels in the States and gave this (and the two 7"ers) a spin today... Awesome! Love the packaging, vinyl colouring and of course the music. Keep up the good work
  16. Hey guys, got my copy through a couple of weeks back when I was away travelling so I've only just had the chance to open it up. Unfortunately, there are a few problems... Was meant to get the white / pink variant, but I actually have two slightly off-white (with a tiny pink tint) records, with a bunch of pink / black scuffs & marks on them... Anyone else had similar problems or was I just unlucky?! (Sorry if this has already been commented on, but I am at work so don't have too much time to check through every post on this thread) Really bummed... Love the album and couldn't wait to give it a spin... Guess I'll be waiting a bit longer!
  17. Thanks for the tip! I had seen Blue Note coming up a lot whilst browsing around online, so I'll keep my eyes open as and when I get into the attic at my parent's place Got a couple of Coltrane re-presses (Blue Note and Impulse!)... Gotta start with the classics, right?!
  18. A quick thanks to everyone contributing to this thread - has been really useful for someone just getting into Jazz (or at least attempting to!). Just received the latest Snarky Puppy release 'Sylva'... Really enjoying it so far. Hope to be a bit more active once I start purchasing more... So far my Jazz collection only stretches to a few records, although I am trying to get access to my dad's vinyl - he was big into Jazz back in the 60s/70s. Cheers guys.
  19. Pre-ordered as soon as I saw it yesterday afternoon. Fantastic album and looks like it will get the release to match. Looking forwards to giving it a spin! 20. Definitely a slow burner to start with, but the more plays I give the new track, the more I grow to love it. As some other people said, it's definitely hard to rate their music on a track by track basis... For me, Sunbather will always be best described as one flowing piece, that just happens to have track dividers placed in it.
  21. I'm feeling the new track. Only (slight) complaint is that the guitar and drums don't seem quite as 'loud' (great musical description there, I know) or 'filling' as on Sunbather... That said, it's a nice first release from the new album.
