  1. Try rubber cement. Dries smooth and holds well. You can usually find it at craft stores.

I've been thinking about glueing a couple of my sleeves that have come undone, and rubber cement seems like the most legit suggestion thus far.

As for sleeves that split along the crease, I don't tape or do anything to those suckers. I just stop putting the record in them and place the record and sleeve separately into the poly outer sleeve. Once the crease splits, a sleeve loses its right to hold a record.

Holds 400 records $750 ripoff.  You could build one for $125 to $175.  If I were to get one I would want 5 slots on each level.

Guess it hold 90 to 110 record $25.  Says this is stackable I would stack only 2 you might be able to get away with 3 this does not look that sturdy.

Did you build these or buy them?

  3. Which way do you stack your milk crates turn them to the side or the opening to the top?? I have mine stack with the opening to the top turn then to the side is easier to access your records.

    Hey DJboutit2,

I used to use crates, and when I did, I always kept the opening facing up. Since the crates became flimsy once completely filled, I felt like turning them to the side would risk my collection spilling out.

Eventually, I started to discover that the crates (along with becoming flimsy) were leaving markings and dings on my sleeves so I switched to some proper shelving.

In the end, the shelving looked better too.

For the time being while you have crates, keep them opening face up. Then get some shelving down the road whenever you can.

  4. Nice.

Bye Bye 17 is fucking awesome.

Looking forward to picking this up.

Might see him in Austin in a few weeks.

Yeah, I love Bye Bye 17. From the couple tracks you can sample of this release, it sounds a little 80's-ish kind of like some of his older albums. But I'm still excited just because such a unicorn of strange singer.

I'm jealous you'll have a chance to see him. He's not stopping in Pittsburgh and all the dates he's playing near me, I'm not free for a road trip.

  5. Yeah I'm pretty sure the rsd phish record is red or something... The one in the link you provided is black

That Phish is listed as a "RSD First" release, not a RSD only release.

The white stripes record is not a rsd item, it is just a record that comes out on the same day as rsd.

    Gotcha. Makes sense. Thanks!

  6. I noticed two RSD releases available for preorder today. What's up with this practice? The White Stripes is a second party vendor, so I suppose they could be trying to suck up copies on RSD. But I'm pretty sure the Phish pre-order is their own site.

    Is this common?

  7. I just got my deluxe edition yesterday. Booklet is 50% the photos you'll see on their website, but the other 50% are Iggy's hand-written lyrics which is kind of cool.

Nice 180gram pressing in a decent quality poly-lined inner sleeve. The double gatefold isn't too exciting. Another standard photo that I already saw in one of their press releases or write ups. The sleeve isn't the thick board I was hoping for.

As for the music, I'm digging it. I think I was let down at first because I was expecting this Iggy/QOTSA/Arctic Monkeys explosion to take place, and it's not. Much more mellow, but Homme's guitar work is stellar, and Iggy's lyrics and voice really started to get into my head on the second spin. My favorite tracks are the last couple on side-a.

Overall, I'm happy to have picked up the deluxe.
