Any of her older stuff with that prime Timbaland production would be awesome but in all honesty if it was any of Erykah, Missy or Lauryn Hill I would be much more excited about it then this Gorillas release. Yeah, I did this for the first time since I signed up at the last second. I bought three albums and I only got a shipping notification for the Tennis album so far with the others saying a shipment estimate of april 4th to 10th so mine will be at least two different packages.

On the topic of other releases, has anyone here bought the Pete Rock album? How does it sound? That is the one album I am contemplating on getting and is nearing a sellout.

Yeah, the exclusive title is confusing for things like that. When I signed back up it took me a minute to figure it all out. I think the big reason why they put the exclusive tag on it is they are referring to it being exclusive for actual members not being an overall exclusive release to the store which can easily get confusing at first glance for sure. This allows all the members a chance to grab what they want before they take that exclusive tag off of it and allow non-members to buy it as well.

IDK about that. I think they fully expected it to be like this honestly. The Fugees and especially the Weezer album were both crazy with link spamming all over the internet as well. Probably other releases as well those were just the only two I was interested in and actually paying attention. That is a good point about the billing cycles but the one thing about a promo code is when you put it in during checkout it would say "Coupon Applied" or something which in itself would be a huge help in letting people at least know they did it right.

He should get an email within the hour saying he had a referral signup under his link. That is normal though for no indication it worked sadly, the referral system is def. a bit flawed. The $10 credit shows up within a day or two, sometimes faster but with the volume of people signing up I would bet on at least a day.

It is crazy honestly. This system has been flawed for over a year and has not been fixed. Like you said the promo code idea would be perfect and I have seen it mentioned several times but I guess that would be a bit too easy. They could still have unique codes for each user so the referral credits are exactly the same. The other thing is the shortened urls are super shady looking from people you do not know since the full url could be literally anything. Can't complain too much about free money though I guess haha

It can take up to a day or two especially with all the traffic they are probably getting. If anyone wants there credit faster just directly message support and they usually are more then happy to help. They def. need to improve there referral system though pretty badly to make everything more obvious when it all worked right.

You should get an email pretty quick (within an hour) saying that you had a referral.

I know when I first signed up last year I had to message them since at the time I only wanted the album of the month since it charged immediately but they were super cool and gladly took it off for me.

I got the free 6 months as well for Tidal and it has surpassed my expectations by quite a bit. It is easily my go to player now when looking anything new up or just listening to things outside of my own collection. I probably wont pay for it when my trial runs out but if I did pay for any it would be Tidal and I have been a premium member of all the major services. It is easily worth the $5/month though if you are a Third Man vault member.

Personally, I enjoy it. It is something a little extra to look forward to and see releases for RSD and Black Friday. Every year I end up getting 1-2 releases at least and then a good hand full or so more down the road once they go down in price. People can cry about limited quantities but that is 95% of the reason there are tons and tons of people that go crazy and buy all kinds of stuff they normally would not have in fear it will go up in cost once sold out. I am sure most record stores also like it because it gets people in the doors to buy other stuff or influence them to come back. Guarantee the majority of these people would not be buying so many records if they knew they could easily get it down the line for the same price or less. Limiting releases or making pressing numbers bigger is the last thing the curators of rsd probably want to do since they love every little bit of the craziness and hype it gets each and every year. I would prefer that but complaining about it for months before every rsd day year after year is not going to change anything because the majority of people are still eating all this up. There are a lot of ridiculous things released and I do not agree with many of them but I still usually end up buying a novelty or two release a year from it so I am part of it. The younger generation with there Crosley playing Justin Bieber listening fans get nonstop shit but they are part of the reason the hobby is thriving and so many artists make sure to release on vinyl as well so I am more then happy to deal with all the stuff I personally do not care much for if it helps keep the medium as a whole healthier. That is my 2 cents at least. Too much other shit in life to worry about since I still end up getting a few releases I am happy about every year anyways.

Well, if you sampled it first and liked it then you at least somewhat knew what you were getting already and everyone that buys records does that for the most part. I was more talking about the members that do complete blind buys without sampling or anything first. Like I said though if they are cool with it then it does not matter. VMP is the only subscription service outside of Third Man that I have even thought about joining so overall I think it is a solid service that is only getting better as they grow.

I got to say they have some of the best customer service I ever dealt with.. Like when I re-upped this last time to get the $25 credit I did not want the Tennis record much so I hit them up and they barely missed the swap deadline so he just added my swap choice on top of getting the Tennis record as well now. There was another small problem last year they helped me out on as well. The hive mentality observation from the last page is spot on though with there community.. I see tons of people talking about blind buying several albums just because other members suggested it. A bit crazy to me but if they are cool with throwing money at unknowns month after month then I say go for it. All I see coming from that is a bunch of high priced albums sitting on a shelf after awhile you will never listen to again with the few you actually wanted sprinkled in.

Random question time. I just realized I had the Mick Jenkins in my cart from a few months ago that has been long sold out but it let me checkout today and purchase it. Has anyone ever done something similar to this? I am fully expecting it to get cancelled but I am surprised it even let me fully purchase it.

I'm sure you would along with hundreds of others but that is the exact problem they are talking about. If one or two people do it then a bunch of others want to do it as well since everyone enjoys free money. Do not pretend like you are offering some great service to the board, you simply want the credits. Just keep it simple, nobody posts a referral link and let people request and whoever helps that person through pms or whatever gets the credit. This is how I have helped several people and offered any advice or questions they had which also helps clean the thread a bit as well. Any other way and this thread will be a nightmare to follow.

Yeah, record buying at goodwills is extremely hit and mostly miss these days but I have got a few really great finds recently so I still go here and there. A few weeks ago I walked into this one that is owned by some local church and I guess someone dropped off a big collection and they were saying between two people they bought 100+ records that all looked brand new.. Then I went to a goodwill a few days later and as I walk towards the records I see a guy leaving with a good 15-20 records in his arms ahha.. So frustrating when that happens knowing how rare good finds are.

Yeah, this whole thing is ridiculous honestly. Sure, it sucks seeing stuff you wanted listed at inflated prices since I also wanted a few of the items but thinking there is some deep trust loyalty thing going on just because we are members of the same board is just as ridiculous really. For stl_ben specifically, I just recently seen a thread of his in the sale section where he was selling a bunch of stuff at the lowest prices I had ever seen any of them before. Either visit the plant yourself next time like him or pay the premium of not attending like the other thousands of people who also want these same releases and were not able to go. "Flipping" has been going on in literally every single field possible since as far back as I can remember and it is not going to stop anytime soon. Request a copy and if you do not get it, get over it and move on. It sucks but it is not worth a huge worthless internet fight. On a non-flipping question, how was The Mummies performance?
