  1. It's funny. A while back Less Than Jake had a contest for test pressings on punknews.org and there were 10 or so people selected (me being one of the lucky few). I was excited out of my mind because I've never had a test pressing and I collect LTJ records. But it never came. Boo-hoo. But Green Day's "Nimrod" and Rancid's "Let the Dominoes Fall" came in the mail. I can't wait to listen to "Nimrod" on vinyl.
  2. I'm excited to see AJJ. And the Beat Kitchen is a fine venue. Too bad I don't have a digital video camera. I've recorded shows using a VHC camera before and had them converted to digital (which is a pain in the ass) but the quality sucks. I hope you can get someone to record.
  3. I hope WTWTA will be as good as I'm wishing it to be. Spike Jonze is a fantastic director. Which leads to... Sam Mendes' "Revolutionary Road." I liked the acting and camera work/cinematography, but damn that movie is depressing. It starts out that way and never lets up. Sam Mendes sure loves depressed, angry, and hopeless suburbanites.
  4. Ed Wood is probably one of my most favourite Tim Burton films (and one of my top films of all time.) People should be more like Depp's interpretation of Ed Wood: unrelentingly optimistic and completely dedicated to their passion (for better or worse). I can't wait for Alice in Wonderland, though. Is it still going to be in 3D?
  5. PM'D! I love the Dead Milkmen. Is anyone going to see them at Riotfest in October?
  6. The packaging was incredible. I've never had records shipped so nicely for the price. And the shipping was incredibly fast.
  7. The Mischief Brew/Andrew Jackson Jihad split. I ordered three of them and each are different. These are so amazingly cool.
  8. I bought a pair of Panasonic stereo headphones from the "Stupid Deal of the Day" at Musician's Friend. It has changed the way I listed to CDs. I've never had a good pair of headphones so these are just mind blowing. I haven't yet tested them with records. But I assume that making CDs sound high quality will lead to my ears melting when I listen to vinyl. Happy day. And I bought a tambourine. HAPPY DAY!
  9. I got my confirmation as soon as I ordered. I ordered around noon and they already shipped it out later in the day. I'm incredibly satisfied so far.
  10. I paid $8.70 for shipping 3 records and the post-marked was really close. It's expensive, but it gets the job done in a speedy manner. And it's not like ebay where the company/seller is trying to make a profit off of the shipping.
  11. Nobody should worry. The record will be released some time next year, giving everyone the opportunity to save another $7.00 to cover the price increase.
  12. I made two separate orders. I bought Green Day's "Nimrod" and got Rancid's "Let the Dominoes Fall" for free and then I made another purchase of two Iron and Wine albums. I figured paying twice for shipping would be cheaper by a few bucks. How long does Fedex usually take?
  13. I'd rather have a double LP anyway. Perhaps Victory won't misprint the lyric sheet this time. It is an expensive jump, but I'm willing to pay for it. I've dreamed of having this on vinyl for years. It's been one of my most look forward to records. End nerd speech.
  14. I received mine from Pirates Press today and they were shipped like all the others (in a 12" mailer). I have no complaints. They arrived in a fine condition with lots of cool stickers. These records are absolutely fantastic. Each one is unique and I love it.
  15. That's what I collect more than records. Perhaps we should trade some time. :-[
  16. Fox probably owns the rights to the show. And what does that mean? Well, Fox will take something good (Futurama, Arrested Development, Firefly) and ruin it the fastest way they know. The cast is what made this show fantastic. I mean, Billy West does four of the main characters himself.
  17. I second that. But many thanks to "alangrey" for the offer of selling a blue one. (bows down) Mischief Brew needs to keep up this pace of releasing records. They're so fantastic.
  18. Have you heard any recent news on this? Nothing recent. Streetlight said a while ago that they would have the first record before Warped Tour came about. Well, what do you know? That didn't happen. But it's suppose to be 99 cover songs with two records from Streetlight, two from BOTAR, and two albums each from another two bands made up of the same members. Kalnoky talks about it briefly on an old podcast. I saw this too. I think its a misprint. If you look a page or 2 before that, its listed as a cd/LP. So the 2XLP could easily be a type-o Two out of the three pictures say 2XLP. I say that's a fighting chance for not being a mistake. I remember an earlier comment that proposed that the album would need to be on two lps. It's in that touchy 50-60 minute mark.
  19. I agree with the other comments. I'm concerned that the Vinyl Collective will run into problems with the pre-order when it was originally listed as a single LP at 10.00 (or whatever the original price was.) I did pre-order it from the VC, and I want to pay the fair price for it. Especially since I bought four of them (I just realized how expensive that's going to be. Collecting is a bad habit, isn't it?) In other related news, I hope that the vinyl pressings of 99 Songs of the Revolution series will go smoother than this, as it will be done by Pentimento Music Co. and not Victory. I've always wanted to hear Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution on vinyl.
  20. If anyone happens to have one of the 100 copies that they'd be willing to part with, I'd be interested in investing in it. I remember reading the myspace bulletin but I completely forgot about following it up with an actual purchase. Perhaps Pirates Press will do another run.
  21. I got the new Victory Records magazine in the mail a few days ago and it said that "Everything Goes Numb" is going to be a double 12". That's wonderful news for fans but it's going to be a pain for pre-orders because Victory lists the record at 20.00. The Darkest Hour record is the same deal (double lp for 20.00). No release dates have been listed for either record.
  22. I would most certainly purchase two copies of the Streetlight Manifesto release. (Yes, one copy must remain in its package!) The other releases, I would pass on. I hope this works out...
