  1. Can't be too surprised at overpriced merch; saw them last week and they wanted $50 for a hoodie, $30 for a t-shirt. I bought Chuck Ragan and Suedehead stuff instead, because I got a stack of shit for what I would have had to spend on one shirt. Show was great though, and I didn't think the new record was TOO bad...bat that's the best I can say for it.
  2. The cartridge/stylus are brand new out of the box and have not been bumped or dropped, or damaged in any other way (unless defective out of the box). Distortion may be a bad word. When I increase the pitch it helps a little, but then the music doesn't sound right, either. Here's the best description I think I can give; if you listen to Boomboxes and Dictionaries from Gaslight Anthem (the record I'm using to work it all out) the guitar bends a little to make it sound twangy or whatever you want to call it, but with my current set up, it does not stop. The singing part doesn't seem to be affected too much, but the music seems as if it's wobbly or bending. Those may be horrible adjectives, but that's about the best I can throw out there. I'll print out the protractor today and try that, I was just hoping there was something a little easier than that. If the deck is not keeping a steady speed, what's the fix? The strobe light should cause 3 of the dots to appear solid when the pitch is set to 0, correct?
  3. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll check out the video and see what I can improve. I'll also try spacing the speakers out a bit further. Hopefully it's something fairly easy to fix!
  4. I've got a Technics SL-1200MK2 with Shure M97xE. I've set the stylus force and anti-skating as required, but I'm getting distortion - it sounds like the records I'm playing are slightly warped, but I know for a fact that they are not. The only thing I know of that I have yet to do is use the alignment protractor for the cartridge, but I'm hoping you with the same turntable may have some advice and/or suggestions. Thanks in advance!
  5. I was really happy with the 7", the whole thing (packaging, colors, most importantly - the music!). That's awesome you're picking up a show with Nothington and Cobra Skulls, I imagine that's the kind of exposure you want! Good luck and have a great show!
  6. They're popping up for about $8 already, I think on Oi! the Boat and Machete, but I have three extra copies on black that'll run you $18 shipped. PM if you're interested!
  7. I will post in this thread whenever they show up! I imagine it should take somewhere around 10 days or so.
  8. I don't know what colors I'll get, probably black, but I ordered 5 of these (and the Templars split bandworm had), so I'll have 4 up for sale whenever they come in. The breakdown ended up being about $15 a record, so that plus shipping to you will do it (about $20). Expensive, and sure some distro here will get it eventually, but I thought I'd put it out there in case anyone is interested.
  9. I looked a bit but found only this http://cgi.ebay.com/Sony-PS-T2-Turntable....h t_1738wt_913. Obviously it's not a replacement part, but there may be part numbers in there.
  10. I get emails for insurance offers on records I bought 3 and 4 months ago, just junk mail that they attached my email address to. I guess maybe they get some kick back? I don't know, but yeah, it seems to be a trend...
  11. I love my records, and I suppose I am just about equal parts fan and collector, but record collectors are a bunch of trivial, petty, complaining bitches. Maybe not all, but far too many. God forbid someone's life didn't revolve around the record that you bought for $6.
  12. I thought their 7" was pretty good, but I have yet to see them live. Either way, I'd say the album will be worth checking out, but I do want to see them live some time, seems like it would be a fun show.
  13. I've got everything else and saw this one on eBay, but it was $20. I watched it for a while and was debating, since I never see it, but it sold the very day I decided it was worth it. The search continues...
  14. Or self-titled 7", it's the same thing, but the one with Glory on it. If you have it and want to sell it, I want to buy it from you.
  15. Glad I could make you feel better! If this record came up more often I probably would have passed on it, but the last time I remember it for auction was September. Maybe I should have made an offer on here, or on the dimestoresaints forum, but I'm happy with it. I can rationalize the amount because I wouldn't sell it to someone if they offered me $1000 for it right now. I don't know that this is a record that I wanted to set, but I guess it's mine for the time being!
  16. If you're interested in it, there's a ton to read about how the release was mishandled. I think the label just wanted to be done with the whole mess and get out from under it, and other than an initial push, Best Buy didn't seem to do much with it either. It seemed like they thought it would sell itself. It's not a bad record, if you like GnR, but it's not great. I'd buy another copy for $2.
  17. I just bought by first "real" turntable...I got on the Technics SL-1200MK2 bandwagon. I think I'll hunt down a vintage Marantz receiver at some point, but I'm happy with my Pioneer VSX-604S for the time being. My first record player was one my mom gave me; it was a Sharp stack system with the record player, tape player and receiver all in one unit. My second was a Sony USB player, which I have had no problems with, but I wanted something sturdier and built to last. I picked the SL1200 up for $400, I feel okay with that.
  18. I don't have a whole lot to trade at the moment, but I'm not looking for a whole lot either! Looking for Rollins, Rancid, a few others. http://www.deadformat.net/tradelist/moodydan
