Your Pops and Gramps got that story to you a little messed up. I was tied up, and your dad was all about, "I'm gonna dig at your guts with my crotch shovel!" It was an awkward time, but your grandfather DEFINITELY twisted on some taint that night. Shit was messed up, but it's cool to play the power bottom from time to time. Honestly, I've not been back to Tennessee since then, and I certainly can't listen to Lucero anymore, either. What can you do? But seriously, I get it people have legitimate questions, even if they can't use a search function - that was NOT my pick. Coming off like you know everything about everything and no one can hold a candle to the great and extensive knowledge on all things concerned with...anything? That's cause to pick a message board fight, don't you think? Well, I think so, at any rate. Bottom line, most of you guys answer questions earnestly and that's cool, but there's always ajxd spewing forth his unavoidable pound of bullshit on every topic that pops up. Fuck him and everything he says, regardless of if he's got 16 Ph.Ds, cured cancer in his basement while getting tattoos in front of all of his doctor friends, and was forced to watch me and his parents have a hate-fuck frenzy. Motherfuckers, Wal-Mart has the hook up!

PO: Valient Thorr- Our Own Masters
moodydan replied to TwitchingTongues's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
I ordered it. Shipping sucks but I'm used to it at this point. Thanks for posting! -
No, I read it because I was interested in what would warrant a revival in a 20+ day old thread on Crosleys. I get the theory behind VTA causing issues, and it may help someone that has the ability to adjust it on their table, so there's that. But, when the issue is that the question at hand is one of how to fix something that basically can't be fixed with the available attunements, I don't really see the point of the thread. For someone that likes to tout their opinion so flagrantly, you're a little soft when it comes to someone stating theirs that doesn't agree with yours. Good to know.

Favorite 7" of a band I used to really be into: Dropkick Murphys - Fire and Brimstone (I searched and searched for this - it's easier to find now, and cheaper) Favorite 7" that I'm glad to own, but that's not very good: Off With Their Heads - Fine-tuning the Bender Favorite 7" that I actually listen to and like: The Misfits - Night of the Living Dead (Where Eagles Dare is the b-side, and the song responsible for me ever getting into punk, heard it for the first time in 1990. One day, I'll have an original pressing, but my shitty boot is good for now).

If you had 200$ what player would you buy?
moodydan replied to Subwire's topic in Turntables & Other Audio Equipment
There are people that will argue DD vs belt vs idler wheel all day long, but I think it really comes down to the specific table. There are great tables from all the options, there are shitty tables as well. The tables that I suggested are a mix of different drives, and I've had examples of the same models with more/less noise and/or shortcomings. Personally, I think you asked a question based on taste, which will undoubtedly garner you a variety of answers. Short answer? In your range, belt is probably the answer for you. But maybe not. -

Other than the Marantz tables suggested, BIC 960/980/981 Dual 12xx series Dual 1019 Sansui 222/535 There are some Garrard's that are worth a glance, but probably not at your price range. There are several Technics models that could be had for less then $200; hit or miss. Pioneer tables from the 70's can be found for your range, and are good 'tables, just might need a little work or be a little beat up. -

If you want a new turntable, buy a piggy bank and stuff your $200 in it. If you don't mind going older, there are tons of 'tables out there within your range that will most likely make you very happy. Search the forum for other threads that contain suggestions; there are several of them. -
sound issue (receiver)
moodydan replied to littlebistro's topic in Turntables & Other Audio Equipment
I would check the transistors on it, too, if it's not any fuses. Depending on what type of transistors you have, where they're located, etc, that may be more of a job than you want to get involved with. -
Not bad: http://www.discogs.com/buy/Vinyl/Soundgarden-Down-On-The-Upside/96656812?ev=bp_rel_det Search Discogs for Superunkown, too. There are copies for about $120 before shipping. Not exactly what you want to pay, but at least you know they're out there.

So...the store is back up and I ordered the first series in February...nothing yet?

Should I buy this Marantz 6100 turntable?
moodydan replied to silvermetal's topic in Turntables & Other Audio Equipment
If the RP-1 is something you think you're going to want, I agree that you should save the money rather than just bridging the gap by spending now. The 6100 is a good table and that's a fair price based on what I've sold them for and what I see them go for on a regular basis, and you would undoubtedly be happy with it, but if you've got a bug for one particular table I'd hold out. -
Service and Owner's Manuals available at HiFi Engine: http://www.hifiengine.com/library/akai/gx-747.shtml If that helps!

I'll get it, but probably order through Oi! the Boat and get the monthly shipping instead of the weekly. I've had nothing but good experiences with Pirates, despite all the bad news. A weekly 7" series does seem a little scary, but we'll see how it goes down.

I don't know much about them personally, but this should be a good place to start: http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=146608. Seems like a lot of people have put their knowledge/resources together in that thread.

Are my speakers good?
moodydan replied to circuit bored records's topic in Turntables & Other Audio Equipment
Your first post said only, if they sound good to you, they're good. All the technical bullshit you like to spew about components, build, and advances could have been focused into a coherent answer that would have let the OP know if his speakers were poorly housed and built with cheap components, or well-manufactured and worthy of keeping around in place of buying something new that may or may not be a quality product. But, as evidenced time and time again (and I'm falling for it like a sucker, I know), you're showing that you're more interested in showing off what you know - or think you know - rather than give someone advice that might be worth a shit. So, like I said, I should probably take a step back, when all that really needs to be said is, ajxd, fuck you. -

moodydan replied to circuit bored records's topic in Turntables & Other Audio Equipment
I'm sorry, what's your opinion on his speakers, ajxd? Because that would be the point of this thread, on this message board. But, then again, I'm sure you've got research to prove that I'm wrong on that topic. I should take a step back. -
If you were wondering, this album is bad ass. If you like saying, "It's better than they're last few records, because it rocks a little more like the earlier stuff," you will be happy. If you like saying, "It's only available on black vinyl?" then, fuck you. It's still got the influence of the last 2 records, but the old edge is there, too. It sounds real nice. That is my review.

Are my speakers good?
moodydan replied to circuit bored records's topic in Turntables & Other Audio Equipment
What's really cool, is while you guys are stroking your egos and knowledge base, the OP is (hopefully) listening to his speakers and figuring out if they're "good" or not. Here you go, buddy: I've got a set of Klipsch KG-4s that everybody trashes every time I say I have them. Apparently, horns are not cool. Anyway, I almost talk my self into getting rid of them because of this, until I get home and listen to them again. Am I a Klipsch fan? Nope. Would I ever suggest them to somebody? Only if they listened to my stereo and said it rocked (it does). Then I would suggest it. On the other hand, I've got a set of BIC Venturi Formula 4s that people like to crap all over. But you know what? Once again, that system rocks. Anybody that says differently can sit on the porch while I listen to my music. My 2 cents. -
Not the same, but sort of related... I sold a record player to a guy in California named Mike Patton. I didn't ask any questions, but in my head, it's that guy.
