New song does not sound good at all. Doesn't even come close to anything off the previous album. Thought this would be an instant preorder for me. Now, not so much.

Well, it's been about three weeks since my subscriber version of this record supposedly shipped from Holy Roar. Nothing. This was the only reason I signed up months ago for this subscription. Now, they are offering to send me a clear copy, which I already have. I don't even remember the last time a record was lost and they come weekly. Oh well. I guess I'm glad Holy Fawn are moving to a U.S. based label. I shouldn't have fallen for the subscriber exclusive bullshit.

Shipping from the UK can take ages sometimes, for whatever reason. In the past year, I’ve had two UK shipments that I thought got lost, turn up like 6 weeks later or so. So with a bit of luck you might still get your copy.

As for the Holy Fawn record. I got my copy two days ago. Shipped outside of sleeves, and with some clearly visible scratches. Haven’t had a chance to play it yet, but based on what I read here, I haven’t got much hope.

  3. Just came across a UK store that sells a colored version of the album for £24.99. Color is unspecified, but I placed an order regardless, since I missed out on the ones that were offered on the Baroness site. Apparently, this is a UK indies exclusive:

Rough Trade has a ltd. edition for sale as well (probably the same one), and their website states it's limited to 2500 copies:

Yeap, I was trying to find the 'proceed' button when checked-out with paypal, but was not able to do so. I refreshed view and -bang!- looks like the variant I have in cart is no longer available :(

Same here. Didn't even see the splatters. All that was left was the gold one. Sold out while checking out. Damn!

I'd say $25 and change is about the maximum justifiable cost for a 2xLP of the caliber that this pressing is and you can find copies of this for that price all over on a few different currently "in print" color variants. $40 is just taking advantage of poor suckers who are addicted to product exclusivity.

I agree it shouldn’t be more than $25-30. Then again, with the Sleep craze we’ve seen this year.. The green/black split of The Sciences? $50 I think. Tour edition of The Sciences? Same thing. Not to mention what that single song Leagues Beneath is fetching on discogs (plus I saw stores sell it for €30 as well, a one-song, one-side record in a flimsy cover).

Considering the fact I couldn’t order the silver/green or hazy green variants anywhere in Europe, and Newbury offers reasonable shipping, I’m OK with this price (as an exception, obviously don’t have the funds to pay this much for every record I get).

I'm still giving it to Profound Lore

They sure put out some good records, but I’ve never experienced service as bad as theirs. Basically, ever since they relocated the EU store from the Netherlands to Germany, it has been impossible to order anything from them. You can place an order, of course, but actually receiving it is a different matter. So for now I’m just buying from 20bs, Relapse etc, until that whole PL mess is sorted out.

New Cripple Bastards is up at Relapse - https://store.relapse.com/item/64010

Love how Relapse are fucking assholes and couldn't put this up the same time as yesterdays PO.

On the one hand, I see your point. On the other hand, if they release two or more wanted records at the same time, you’re also more likely to miss out.

For some reason, Relapse get a lot of shit on here for their pricing tactics. I find what Pelagic did with the latest The Ocean preorder much worse: price will increase after the first 100 and 200 have sold. At least with Relapse, you know what’s what: you want the most limited version, you need to pay for that. You’re fine with a less fancy version, you pay less. Works for me
