  1. Okay, so pretty much every record I've listened to now has a pop happening on every rotation, no matter how new the record is. Is this the stylus being worn down or the counterweight being too light and actually bouncing off the record with each rotation?
  2. Sounds like you'll have to work for it... Assume the position. You gonna do some prayin' for me, boy. And you better pray real good.
  3. I have absolutely no idea how to calibrate my turntable. I feel like such a n00b. Is there a tutorial online for this? How do I know if it needs to be re-calibrated? And how do you know when you need a new stylus? And what the hell is the difference between a needle and a stylus, anyway? (I'm totally not worthy of being Collector Of The Month. Someone, revoke my title.)
  4. Angryyoungandpoor.com sells LP bags for $.18 -- I just got 50 in the mail today and will be buying plenty more in the future. And to answer the above question, you just slide them over the LP sleeve -- it's just like a comic book bag or something. I'm leaving the LP inside the LP sleeve, but some people take them out and put them behind the sleeve.
  5. I would be majorly bummed if I was taking a girl's shirt off and saw a giant astronaut on her side, no matter how much I love Brand New. Some things just don't work as tattoos.
  6. I look forward to any appearance of Dr. Mickhead.
  7. This thing is just uncomfortable to watch. It's funny for about 20 seconds, then you look down at the time elapsed bar and realize there's, like, six minutes to go.
  8. Loren, if/when I ever decide to sell my Brand New demo, you will be the first person I offer it to.
  9. Hey guys, let's get back on topic: How great I am. So, who wants to fuck me?
  10. My Angry, Young & Poor order just came in. Hot Rod Circuit - If It's Cool With You, It's Cool With Me LP on clear green (but no insert! Boo, Triple Crown Records. Boo.) Jets To Brazil - Perfecting Loneliness 2xLP, on orange marble (anyone have pressing info for this?) Boy Sets Fire - Live For Today 10" I also got the new Built To Spill 12" single ("They Got Away" b/w "Rearrange") today, too.
  11. I'm allergic to cats. Also, they are evil.
  12. For the record, I paid Virgil $10,000 to be chosen this month over the rest of you rubes.
  13. you probably shouldn't leave a dog home alone that long no matter what breed. I also 100% suggest checking out your local shelters before going to a breeder. Rescuing/adopting a dog is a great thing to do. You might want to look into greyhounds, they are great dogs, don't need a lot of space, and just sleep a lot. Well I work from 10 to 6 M-F (and it's usually more like 10-7, or 10-8/9/10/11/12/till the sun comes up when we're in deep production and on close deadlines), plus I go to a lot of shows after work, so sometimes I get home really late. I could definitely go home on my lunch break every day to feed the dog/take him out/etc., but I just don't know how much else time I'd have. I want to be a good father but I don't know if I can devote the time.
  14. Here's what Weezer.com has. No specific numbers, but a little more info: title: weezer - hash pipe (Int'l Singles) label: geffen / interscope id# released: june 2nd, 2001 format: see notes songs: hash pipe + bsides, listed in "notes" notes: the UK single came out in 3 formats. CD - enhanced w/ "hash pipe", "starlight", the jimmy pop (bloodhound gang) remix of 'hash pipe",' and the "hash pipe" video (CD-ROM). the cassette version has "hash pipe" and "starlight". the vinyl 7" version contains "hash pipe" and "teenage victory song"(note: some jackets erroneously say "starlight" and some 7" labels have "teenage victory song" labels on both sides of the record. These are both errors. No matter what the record or the jacket says, all 7"s have "Hash Pipe" b/w "Teenage.." on the b-side more notes: the picture sleeve photo was shot during the outloud tour. it's a rivers cardboard cutout being pushed by mikey (notice the =w= light being set up in the back. actual record wax is clear green. international single (Europe, etc) (Geffen 497 568-2): contains same tracks as UK release, w/out the hash pipe video. Features the "pat" cover art, not the 'cardboard' photo
  15. I want a dog so so so so so badly, but I feel like I'm too busy with my career to show the dog the attention it needs. Does anyone have any recommendations for breeds that do well on their own for 8-10 hours out of the day and that don't need a huge back yard (I have a decent-sized one, but nothing enormous)? Nothing smaller than a bread box, please.
  16. I also play the drums, and am desperately looking for people to jam with in Cleveland. Anyone?
  17. Something similar happened with me on eBay recently. Some random dude from Seattle was auctioning off a whole bunch of records, supposedly to raise money for a community center or something. One of them was a still sealed copy of Urge Overkill's "Exit The Dragon" 2xLP, an album which I love and didn't yet own on vinyl. Luckily, no one else cares about that band so I won it for 4-5 bucks. The guy billed me and I sent him something like 8-9 bucks for the record + shipping through PayPal. Then I waited and waited and waited. Three weeks later, I get an email from eBay telling me the guy is a scam artist and they have shut his account down; they also encouraged me to file a dispute with PayPal. Now, since it was less than $10, I didn't care all that much; I was just bummed that I wasn't going to get the record. Cut to about 10 days ago, when the record -- with a return address in Massachusetts -- shows up. It's not sealed, and the condition is a bit crappier than I expected, but still, it showed up. From whom? I don't know. But I was stoked!
  18. Completely agreed, I was going to go as well. I feel like a supreme asshole, though, given that he's missing it so he can be with his wife for her chemotherapy. It's hard to blame a guy for that.
  19. Yeah, Steve Albini dispises that band. It's kind of funny.
  20. Nope, but I saw them play on Conan O'Brien once and thought we were sort of kindred spirits.
  21. i have never ordered from the before. Do they ever let you know if it is on colored vinyl or you just take your chances? I just roll the dice, but since the dude above said he just bought one and it was on green, I'm hoping my copy will be, too.
  22. I'm originally from Illinois. This band was like our state's little secret. And Exit The Dragon is soooooo good, too! Don't hate.
  23. Never been a BA fan, but I'm sure there are 1000 diehards who would buy a box set.
