  1. Happy birthday, impact! I hope no one comes into a coffee house and slams your head into the counter today.
  2. I also have the second pressing -- what does yours look like? Because mine fits the description I wrote.
  3. So I placed an order through Blue Collar Distro on August 5 for a few T-shirts and an LP. I pay via Paypal, which clears the next day. I paid for UPS Ground shipping, so I'm expecting it any day. Today is August 15, and still no package. So I go log into my account there and look at the order, and it says "On Hold." No idea what that means. So I shoot them a half-polite "WTF? You have my money, so where's my shit?"-type email, and literally within 30 minutes, I get a shipping confirmation e-mail with a UPS tracking code. I'm kind of miffed that they didn't write back, though. I mean, I should've had my shit a week ago. It just sucks. This is in no way an inditement of BCD as a whole, as I've never had issues with them before and I think they have a great, user-friendly website. But man, I'm peeved.
  4. As far as I know, both original pressings of TAYF were done in the "Victory Limited Edition" style with silkscreened, foldover cardboard covers. Same with the Thursday LP and EP.
  5. Ladies and gentlemen, I think we just had our first legitimate smiting.
  6. No idea where my audio cassettes are; probably in my parents' basement back in Illinois. In a related story, I took all my old VHS tapes to Half Price Books tonight along with a bunch of CDs, because really, who watches VHS tapes anymore?
  7. Start off with Miles Davis' "Kind Of Blue." It's a pretty middle-of-the-road record in terms of jazz style, but is one of the cornerstones of the whole genre. Duke Ellington's "The Far East Suite" is great, too. If you want some more progressive shit, get John Coltrane's "A Love Supreme" and Ornette Coleman's "Free Jazz." That shit will blow your mind, most likely. It did to me when I first heard it.
  8. Street Smart Cyclist - Street Smart Cyclist 7" (on blue, 279/300)
  9. I just exalted you for your positive thought.
  10. Goddamn you, Virgil. Just what we all need -- another handful of variants to drop money on.
  11. The "We All Know You Can Do It" 7-inch? I own this. How much is it worth?
  12. 13. Any time someone has a birthday, we can congratulate them in this here thread. For those who don't know, you can see if it's anyone's birthday on the message board's main page at the bottom. Today, ps turns 27! Congrats, buddy! Unfortunately, according to the new Patton Oswalt CD, you're not allowed to celebrate this year. Sorry to disappoint. Anyway, hope your birthday rules and your girlfriend doesn't do this to you today: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zalRmNEoVE4
  14. The band just posted a video trailer for the vinyl release. Odd, but you can check it out here: http://myspacetv.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=15858149 For those who don't feel like watching, it says ATBB will be released as a double 10", but no release date outside of "Coming Soon."
  15. Slow Gherkin ruled! Everyone should buy that record. It's not their best one, but it's still great.
  16. I'm still stoked that it caught on. I've been lucky enough to create a handful of things that will live on for a long time, like that or calling Ted Leo the motherfucking man. When I'm dead and buried, those will still live on.
  17. Uh, apparently you haven't watched my avatar all the way through yet.
  18. This is like picking my favorite child. I gotta give it to Braid, just because I have more personal memories attached with them from "back in the day."
  19. Mineral is just a 45 rpm Sunny Day record being played at 33. That said, I love both bands and could never choose.
  20. Cave In. I like a little melody in my chaos every once in a while. And Perfect Pitch Black was a pretty sick album, too. Dunno where they pulled it from.
  21. Man oh man, Planet Earth is so freakin' sweet. The stuff they somehow captured on film is so breathtaking. You get super-involved with the animals, you start rooting for them in certain situations and when they don't make it in whatever they're trying to do, you honestly get sad. Seriously, everyone should rent/buy Planet Earth. Richard Attenburough (the old guy from Jurassic Park) narrates it expertly, too.
  22. It's always the first that comes to mind when anyone asks me what my favorite cover art is. It sums up the band perfectly, and looks really badass as an LP jacket.
  23. My No Idea order showed up with Monday's mail: NOFX - 7-Inch Of The Month Club #12 (second pressing) Small Brown Bike - Dead Reckoning LP (second pressing, on clear green) Against Me! - New Wave LP (on yellow) Against Me! Thrash Unreal 7-inch Did anyone else's "Thrash Unreal" sleeve come unglued? The left side of my sleeve had already come apart when I opened my package this morning. So bummed.
