  1. What is Wes' book about? Sounds kind of interesting... I have books by Ben Weasel and Mike Watt (both autographed) and I think it's kind of cool when musicians put out writing.
  2. Just did a bunch of travelling to Austin Texas all through Mexico and back up to Vancouver and Victoria. I managed to snag: Sword/Witchcraft split Rocket from the Crypt - Hot Charity Nomeansno - Would We Be Alive? The Strokes - Is This It? and my gf scored huge with: The Deftones - White Pony
  3. Ha! I agree that Arts and Crafts arent vinyl shipping friendly. For those of us who live in good ol Canada, the Constantines will likely tour soon enough. I get to see them usually twice a year at least. Maybe if they can come through, me and Skummy can get some trades going for everyone else.
  4. Hmm... I have that Cursive album... and I will be in Toronto in April...
  5. Also, I believe there was a Dan Yemin solo collection released on vinyl some time ago. http://www.punknews.org/article/19563
  6. The Walkmen (I'm missing some 7"s but I don't really collect those, so whatever)
  7. A hilarious mail day. So the doorbell rings and it's the mailman with my Mission of Burma LP's ("Vs." and "Signals..." - THANKS Benchwarmer). I was still in bed but saw the mail truck so I threw on a hoodie and answered the door in my boxers. Me and my mailman are tight. He recognizes my name and the record-shaped parcels he has been delivering to me for five years (plus I write for a local newspaper that he reads) so we chat for a bit. When he leaves my gf laughs at me because I went to the door in my underwear to talk to the mailman. Half an hour later, I just get out of the shower when the bell rings again. The mail truck is out front, so this time I answer the door in a towel (but I got my Boris/Merzbow split and a Neil Hamburger 7") and everyone has a good laugh again. Sigh.
  8. CRACK AND CHIP OFF I was stoked to see they had these when they opened for AFI. "crack and chip off"?
  9. Not a spectacular mail days by any means but... Nomeansno - Wrong LP (my favourite album by my favourite band) What makes this a good mail day is that for some reason, when I order things from the UK (overseas), they always seem to get here way faster than things I order from the States (I live in Canada). Who knows why, I guess.
  10. Goatsnake - Flower of Disease Nick Cave - Abattoir Blues/Lyre of Orpheus
  11. I'm interviewing this band on Thursday. I was going to ask if anyone could suggest anything to ask them, but: "So why is your singer such a douche?" Maybe...
  12. One of the nicest people I have ever met. He put my old band up at his place when we were on tour. Troy also runs a label that puts out some decent punk stuff.
  13. My gf is a 6"1 tall Norweigan blonde, hates working as much as I do, got me on EI, and collects stoner rock records (Kyuss, Queens of the Stone Age, Electric Wizard - I should do her a favour and make her a trade list). But things like plastic "weird her out." Ha. But in other words, she is my white whale.
  14. To all of you who aren't destined to be single and loserish forever, say you are dating someone who has their own record collection. Would you combine (alphabetical or whatever) or keep seperate. I was dating someone two years ago who got all pissy at me that I wouldn't combine collections with her. My reasoning was that I spent a lot of time and money in my collection and that it was something I was proud of (also, she had some records I didn't want touching mine, ha!). For her, it was proof I would never fully commit to her (we were both right! Fortunately I found someone a thousand times radder with a way better collection and we share a shelf but have vowed to never combine - although I guess it could happen sometime). What would you do?
  15. The real secret here is to get on Employment Insurance, and then sit at home for three months, get paid for it, and listen to/buy records all day. Man, life is sweet. But not quite as sweet as that turntable.
  16. Against Me! - Sink Florida and Bongzilla are gone! No one is interested in the Cavalier Eternal? First Pressing? Clear Blue? /327?
  17. I have a rather small collection of Boris, and it is fucking ridiculous. That said, I am really looking forward for their new stuff.
  18. To be honest, I don't get what she is going for with that cover. ???
  19. I'm pretty sure smoking reef and listening to stoner/sludge metal IS life.
  20. Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere. http://www.brooklynvegan.com/archives/2008/01/warner_music_ac.html#more
