  1. The future belongs to the analog loyalists. Fuck digital.
  2. Then you are saying you're not a fan of today's music. Because the music on the records never made a record rare, necessarily. I don't understand why people go after the 17th pressing but that's their business and they owe no explanation to you or me or anyone. That said I still don't know how you make the above statement and then say its not about today's music. Again, you misunderstand me. I understand hunting down a record because you don't own the music. I don't so much understand hunting down a record you have 10 other copies of because you don't have that particular color. They don't owe me an explanation... I already know their reasons. It's just odd to me.
  3. Hahaha, I agree. That's No Idea for you though. They try and make the least collectable things collectable for some reason. It's some obsessive compulsive shit right there. I didn't even know that No Idea had a list of the pressing information until today. I'm shocked they do. For the longest time, none of their records were worth anything because no one knew if it were 1 of a 100,000 of a certain color or what the fuck pressing it was. Now that cat's out of the bag and the collectors are out of their minds. Sucks that I dumped all my HWM and LTJ vinyl years ago. :'(
  4. wait what? is this directed towards me? do you want to fight?? PUNK@#?@?#@ ahha, i need that color to complete my collection... im so close, why stop now? haha.... Well, it was an easy example. I guess if you're missing that one color why stop now?
  5. It was pretty safe since it was on a DJ table with no vinyl on it. ps - That video almost made me pee myself.
  6. Sounds like you're just not a fan of today's music. Because I don't understand why someone is busy looking for the 17th press of an Against Me record, I'm not a fan of today's music?
  7. BTW - Cheers to the Vinyl Collective for keeping the shipping prices down!
  8. Seriously... like "media mail" and you can ship a stack of records for $5. I think they want to force you to use UPS 2nd Day since at a certain point it's like $1 more, so why not? Retarded.
  9. Yeah, thats a sweet turntable. What are you running in the rest of your system (speakers, amps, etc)? I run a Grado Gold cartridge on it. My stereo is a Eico ST 40 integrated tube stereo that I bought a bunch of years ago, fixed up, modded, and upgraded. I've got Meadowlark Swift speakers. Sometimes I think about changing out the cart for something else, but I'm fairly happy and system sounds great. I'd love to get a Mac MC275 and C22 preamp, but for a time when I have a spare $6k laying around.
  10. whys it crazy? for example theres alot more people currently into say Against Me! than say naked raygun. so more people are going to be going for the same pieces.. making the former alot more desirable not matter how much easier to come by it is People are turning records into punk rock baseball cards. They are just something to look at. I don't see the point of that.
  11. You're saying new-ish records and really rare as if they're mutually exclusive. I think that's unfair and muddles things. There's a ton of Against Me! stuff, to continue with flood's example, that was pressed in sub-100 amounts. That's pretty damn rare. I'm talking about the music on the records, not the records themselves.
  12. Anyone else think that Interpunk's shipping is rigoddamndiculous?
  13. It's just so crazy to me that new-ish records are going for more than really rare records. I understand the idea of supply and demand, I just don't understand the demand.
  14. Is that a VPI Scout in your avatar? Do you own one or did you just grab a picture of a turntable off the net? I own one. Awesome table. Much better than the Music Hall MMF5 it replaced.
  15. I was just there buying a purse for my wife at the Coach outlet and stopped by. Nothing scarce or anything. All the Record Theatres seem to have the same exact stock in them.
  16. Well, only slightly odd. I understand, it looks cool, but hear me out. When I started collecting records 15 or so years ago, it was to find cool, out of print music. For example... if you wanted to listen to Youth Of Today's "We're Not In This Alone" or Naked Raygun's "Basement Screams", you'd have to find it. And it was fucking hard. Now days it seems like colored vinyl trumps pressing. It used to be that the first press was always most desired, even if it were on black and subsequent pressings were on colored... now the opposite seems true. Now people need to have a record on ever single color. Why is that? Please help this confused old timer out. I look forward to more smites!
  17. Again... how many people are going to buy stuff they already own for $200+?
  18. I read something that said 80,000 copies... but that sounds like bullshit.
  19. I hate Robert Plant's voice and they stole almost all of their songs. What's to like?
  20. Out of curiousity, where do you shop around here? I haven't been in the vinyl game long enough to have scoped out all the good spots yet. And I'm still going to try and treck around to the stores because I've got a list of records a mile long I want to find in person before I pony-up for shipping costs here and there online. Maybe I'll get lucky and be able to help out someone. Sit And Spin on Delaware is your best bet for punk/hc vinyl. Sometimes you can get lucky at the Record Threatres, but by in large, probably not. That's the first place I looked when I realized these were going for money since they used to have a boatload. All gone. If you want to pay a lot of some stuff that goes for about half that at Sit And Spin or eBay for that matter, check out Record Baron, also on Delaware.
  21. I didn't even think people still listened to Thursday anymore.
